off to watford for our 'free' session. i know i'll be wanting a bigger pic than the desk top one i'll get for free so have budgeted around £300 extra. i hate having my pic taken, so does dh, he has threated to go all in white so he'll be a floating head in the pics. the kids love it tho, have got them so brightish clothes and jeans sorted, and am gonna take boo! and a few other toys to relax them. last time dd1 just ran around the room for 30mins laughing at the photographer. ooooooooooo i hope we get some lovely pics. i'm off to plait their hair as otherwise dd2 will be just a ball of hair on the pics.

SoupDragon · 12/07/2004 19:22

They're a chain of trendy photographic studios.

littlemissbossy · 12/07/2004 19:29

That charge a fortune Kanga!!!
Glad you had a good time misdee

KangaMummy · 12/07/2004 20:53

Thanks sd and lmb.

I was just a bit confused by the space hoppers and pillow fight!!

Just being a bit dim

misdee · 12/07/2004 21:20

sorry for confusing you. this is the 2nd session we've had with venture, last one was when dd2 was about 6months old, so will proably aim for another session after the baby is born and is more mobile. We have a viewing session next week, and then i think the actual pic takes about 4 weeks to be ready. they are beautifully framed, and i love them as with posed pictures i always think they dont look like my kids. i'm really hoping these ones are as good as the last lot that were taken.

If u can get a free or discounted session i think its worth it. i wouldnt pay the 50 quid for the sitting tho.

ok thanks I understand now, I guess a good idea so you get natural photos.

nutcracker · 12/07/2004 21:55

So how can you get a free or discounted sitting then ???

I am dying to get some of my kids done.

codswallop · 12/07/2004 21:56

you know it costs a fortune................................ I almopst fell over

codswallop · 12/07/2004 21:56

go to thisisventure.co.uk

katierocket · 12/07/2004 21:58

nutty - go to www.thisisventure.co.uk/ and click on 'offer'

BUT you only get at 7x5 in any offer they do - and you'll probably want to buy more and that's where spending lots of money comes in!

katierocket · 12/07/2004 21:59

coddy (as usual) beats me to it!

codswallop · 12/07/2004 21:59

hey katie but janh is the Queen!

misdee · 12/07/2004 22:04

i usually fill in the cards in shopping centres/supermarkets etc. we get 3 different studios trying to get business where we are. we also recently had a freebie session at The Click studios and they only managed to get 5 pics, so the one we got wasnt brilliant. This has actually been the 4th session we have been offered at a refundable £25 booking fee but only the 2nd we have actually attended. They do give away lots of session knowing that u will upgrade the freebie pic (i will more than likely be).

littlemissbossy · 12/07/2004 22:09

I recently had a voucher worth £165 which would have only paid for a desk sized portrait but didn't take up on it because the nearest Venture place is MILES away and TBH I couldn't be ar$ed

Tinker · 12/07/2004 22:36

Oh, went to a venture party last Friday - didn't sign up though. The room went very quiet when someone asked how much the big picture was (£900! )

They do look good (ie you don't look like yourself. Imagining here, not had one done) but can't imagine not feeling self-conscious at a session.

Looks like they make the money from the frames - which they insist on doing. If you get the offer one, you could easily frame it yourself for much less.

Tinker · 12/07/2004 22:37

So, if you want a cheap or free one, host a party!

nutcracker · 12/07/2004 22:59

Hmmm may stick to Olan Mills then
