Baby Settling For Sleep

Hi. Just wondered if anyone has come across their babies kicking and banging their legs around as they are getting off to sleep? My five month old has done this since birth. I used to think she was in distress but she has continued to do it and after a burst of leg lifts and bangs on the cot mattress she eventually goes off to sleep. I just wondered if anyone else has come across this and what it may mean?

my 8 mo ds does this too, especially nap times. he also gibbers to himself. maybe it is their way of unwinding?

My Ds (8 months) did this from about 3 months old - both legs together and very hard - how he didn't hurt himself I have no idea.

He did stop as soon as he learnt to roll over and now he just rolls round his cot until he drops off.
