not a fire that is in use

just to look neater and to stop fiddly fingers from getting filthy

can't even think what i'd use as a google search term

If you like old stuff and it would look good in your house you can still buy old ones from the 1940's or before. Check your local antique shops. If you're good at crafts, and have the time, you could restore or modernise an old fire-screen frame too, there are some nice wooden ones around...HTH

Fire screen perhaps?

MrsBadger · 20/03/2007 19:36

or get an unfinished MDF one and decorate it yourself. Or get the kids to decorate it...

I've seen a great wooden one that you put photos in but have no idea where you'd get that, sorry

(and I have a complete mental block about putting photos into frames so it'd do my head in!)
