Child benefit

I've just had a letter from child benefit to say the payments for my eldest will stop now she has left school.
She's staying in full time education I just assumed if a child was in full time education the payments would continue.
What about tax credits? Do I have to inform them that she's leaving school or will they just know from her DOB like child benefit did?

You can extend child benefit payments if they are still at school

dementedpixie · 15/06/2017 19:39

So is she leaving school or not?

I'm in the same position with my daughter who is moving on to college after the summer. I called the child benefit agency after receiving the same letter as yourself and updated them with where she would now be studying, as part of their process they informed the tax credit department and I've since received a letter confirming the child benefit would continue. Give them a ring in the morning, I'm sure it will be sorted out in no time.

Thanks I will.
She will be starting college in September.
She's been accepted in to two. And she's still torn between them both so I won't be able to tell them where she will be studying yet.
I've changed my child care for dd2. So already today I've spent a big chunk of my day on the phone to tax credits. Then another half hour to the TV licence people.
Couldn't face face another stretch on the phone to child benefit. So just wanted to know where I stood before I phoned them

Depends on the course i.e. a university course would mean CB stops

Funnyfarmer · 15/06/2017 21:41

No it's college she's starting. She's 16

You just return the form confirming they will be in ft education.

Funnyfarmer · 15/06/2017 22:34

There isn't a form to return. It's just a letter telling me what changes are to me made.

Funnyfarmer · 16/06/2017 21:30

I will I'll ring them Monday.
This is the 1st time I've heard from them about it.
