defrag a pc??

mine took all day!

Can be 20 mins, can be all night. Depends on the size and how long it's been since the last defrag.

never done it and pc is about 2 years old. so best do over night.
Oh and if you have a stand alone modem plugged in to the electric. do you need to leave it on when pc off?

modem had no bearing on defrag so you can turn that off.

Once you've done the initial defrag, if you do it once a month after it should take 20-mins or so.

remember to ensure thatall programs are3shut down
I mean nothing running in the bacground (showing up next to your clock) cause anything that changes anything on the hard drive will cause the defrag to start again

And turn your screensaver off or the defrag will stop!

Leave the anti virus, it's fine.

also did a clean up. can't believe I have gained about 15% more space
