How do i do perfect eggs for eggs and soldiers?

got them in pan, in cold water, what do i have to wait for??..little bubble?..then what? want nice runny/safe, no nastiness dippy eggs for children...yes i am this thick!

I find that if you heat the water first and just before the water starts boiling put them in very carefully with a spoon and then give them about 6 or 7 minutes for runny yoke, 10 mins for hard boiled. Also, you could put an extra egg in and take it out to check if thats done and then you can decide if the other one needs longer.

Room temp egg, room temp water (unless egg has been in fridge, then use cold water!)

Bring to boil

As soon as it begins to boil properly (lots of bubbles!), time it for a minute

Switch the heat off and let it sit for a minute - eggs carry on cooking for a while after the heat is removed.

This method always works for me. I think the tip about doing an extra egg is a good one as well.

thanks i will try them next time but this was for snack/tea time today..first one was too runny..second lot too hard..third lot perfect

My perfect eggs ... in cold water. Time exactly 2 minutes once water starts to boil properly (not first bubbles but proper bubbles).
