has anyone done an intensive driving course?

i had several lessons a couple of years ago, but fell pregnant halfway through and had to stop before i got to test standard.

i really need to get driving and am trying to find a local instructor who offers a semi-intensive course that i can work around childcare arrangements. i can't face the thought of months and months of driving lessons so this seemed the best way.

has anyone got experience of intensive lessons and if so would you recommend it or have any advice?

I took a week off work and booked 4 hours (2 lots of 2 Hours)each day for 7 days. It wasn't residential. The reason being I didn't have a car to practice in in between lessons and I wanted to spend as much time in the car as I could. I took my test and passed about 2 weeks later having a couple more lessons at a weekeend. But having said that about 7 yrs previously I had taken and failed 3 tests when I was 17, so I wasn't a beginner.

when i say i had several lessons.....i had about 30 one hour lessons...but it was weekly so i never really got my confidence. then my pregnancy brain kicked in and i just couldn't concentrate.
i've just phoned a local company who do 10 hour and 20 hour semi intensive courses. he wants to arrange an appt in the next 2 weeks for an assessment lesson. i can't practice in our car because it's an automatic.....

i know i can do it, and being able to drive will improve my quality of life so much.

I took intensive lessons having failed twice having weekly/fortnightly lessons (no car to practice in between times)

I did a weekend course, 2.5 days lessons followed by the test on the 3rd afternoon

couldn't recommend it more highly, passed no problem

I thought about doing an intensive course but was advised that I wasn't likely to pass as I hadn't had any lessons before it. Apparently its a good way of passing if you've had lots of lessons but need practice iykwim, rather that starting from scratch. Maybe you should have some lessons and then do the intensive course when you feel you've at least got the basics? They are expensive so you don't want to waste your money. I just did weekly lessons in the end and passed my test...eventually (embarrassed to admot how long I took lessons for!?)
