That's the answer I got as wekk JanH, but I'm sure I've never heard of it!

ledodgy · 19/03/2007 10:59

apparently Disney has buried it info here

deaconblue · 19/03/2007 11:30

thank you and hurrah for lyrics too, I won't need to sing made up words about getting dressed to go out anymore. Have never seen the film though, how on earth do I know the song?

The song always gets included in Disney compilations, and other children's ones (it is a nice happy song, even if the film was a bit dodgy, going by ledodgy's link - "don't beat Uncle Remus too bad!" )

BadHair · 19/03/2007 11:34

My grandma took my cousin and I to see this when we were about 5. It was the second film I ever saw - first being Dumbo. The only bit I remember is Uncle Remus with the cartoon bluebird on his shoulder.

As I understand it, it's racism lies in the stereotypical portrayal of Remus as a subserviant, grinning, black farmhand.

Still like the song though.

It is such a happy sunny song isn't it? He thinks I'm mad but it makes him sit still while I do up the zip on his coat
