School summer holiday dates- help please!

Hello everyone,

School summer holidays have already started up here in Edinburgh, but I would like to get some information from a few people in England, please! We are going to Dorset for our holiday and travelling down on the 22nd and 23rd with an overnight stop. One of my friends in Manchester has told me that her children finish school on the Thursday, and I'm trying to work out whether it would be best to get as far as possible on Thursday before other schools come out, or whether the traffic will be likely to be just as bad both days.

I think I've made this about as clear as mud, but if a few people from different parts of the country could let me know when they break up it would help a lot. Thanks!

We are in Enfield in London, and our schools are out on 20th july at 2pm. Look out the rest of the country.........

Thanks survivour- that doesn't sound too bad actually, I'm just worried about a sudden flood of traffic on the Thursday and want to plan accordingly!

We're Solihull and our kids finish on 23rd - Birmingham's usually the same.

16th in Lancashire LEA, tamum, so you should be OK before you get to Mancs!

Cheshire schools will be on 20th or 27th so you're OK there.

Stockport Friday 16th for secondary, Fri 23rd for primary. (Secondary schools tend to finish at lunchtime on whichever day though. They do round here anyway). According to its website, Manchester City Council LEA breaks up Mon 19th. There are 10 boroughs in Greater Mancs and they all please themselves. It's a total mish-mash in the NW so I wouldn't worry!

Im in West Berkshire and my ds finishes on Friday 9th....its a private nursery attached to a school. I think most of the private schools in this area finishes on the 9th and the state schools probably two weeks after that.

I teach in Doncaster and our school breaks up on Friday 16th July. And we have SEVEN weeks off this summer - yeah
