What uniform do Brownies actually need?

When DS started cubs it was straight forward - sweatshirt, trousers, neckercheif. Easy. DD (7) is about to start brownies and I've been looking at the uniforms on ebay - mind boggling. There are trousers, leggings, shorts, skirts, L-sleeved t-shirts, short-sleeved t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, gillets, sashes, bags.........

So what would you advise me to actually get? Don't want to go mad on loads of kit she doesn't really need. Is trousers and t-shirt enough to start with - should I go for a jacket or a gillet? long-sleeves or shorty sleeves. Help?

We've just leggings and long-sleeved t-shirt, to be honest. Can't see the point of any more. It's only once a week. If it's chilly, they wear a coat to get there, and if they're too hot, then tough!

My Brownies all have trousers and long sleeve tops (scotland - slightly cooler) and I have asked that they all have a sash too - for all the badges.

Ask your Brown Owl if there are any second hand bits and pieces. I ask the Brownies who are leaving to hand any old uniform they don't want anymore - to hand on if possible.

I'm with GameGirly on this one, that's exactly what dd has. May stretch to a short sleeve T in summer. I think the gilets and hoodies are cute but its not meant to be a fashion show is it? And one thing's for sure ANY of it beats the brown dress,leather belt, wollie hat and knee socks WE had to wear back in the day

Thanks. The prices in ebay seem really steep for second hand. I think its only worthwhile if I get a package. I will look for trousers and t-shirt and if I get lucky with a jacket included then great but will focus on t-shirt and trousers. Thanks

I'd forgotton about the oversize brown shirt we used to wear! the hat wasn't so bad though

dd1 has t-shirt, hoody and sash.She wears some brown trousers she already had.
