We were not allowed,
Barbie (American!)
Clackers (dangerous)
The Price is Right (vulgar & greedy)
Benny Hill (just vulgar)
In general,ITV was frowned upon.
Platform heels (ruin your feet)
To play in the street on a Sunday,(as people want some peace & quiet).
There are probably loads more, but I can't think of any straight off.

And for years people have looked at me as if I'm the mad one!

MrsGumby · 16/03/2007 13:35

Wasn't allowed a ra-ra skirt. In the end I badgered my mum so badly she caved in an bought me one from BhS, by which time they'd gone out of fashion and I was laughed out of Helen Yates' 13th birthday party by a roomful of girls in their new pinafore dresses with underskirts showing. I still bear the mental scars.

Ahhh Jackie, pageboy cut(Purdy) and Angels....what happenned to Jackie? I got a letter printed in it once! Think I got £1.25 for it!

MrsGumby · 16/03/2007 13:43

I used to have to hide my copy of Jackie in my saddlebag because I didn't want Mum and Dad to know that I was reading about boys' willies in Cathy and Claire's problem page. I used to buy Whizzer and Chips comic as a smokescreen till I was about 14...

A friend of mine wasn't allowed to collect Garbage Pail Kids stickers because her parents said they mocked the afflicted.

I can't remember being denied anything; funnily enough I am aware of the potential damage of this kind of laxity and am now quite strict with DS. "We don't drink JUICE you will drink MILK or WATER or NOTHING."

(he's allowed juice when we go out btw just not all the time and def nothing fizzy or caffeinated!)

RedTartanLass · 16/03/2007 13:52

White bread. Only wheat allowed in the house. No great loss; it was bad for me anyway. Have a friend who still kids me for eating white bread as dessert at her house!
