people claim to be starving, when really they just mean they are hungry? just wondering really as i just started a thread and almost used the word starving, which i realised was not what i meant at all.

That's true, im a nightmare when im at home and have my laptop on in bed!! Yes im in the UK, i do shift work, days and nights! Are you in the UK?

no. when it is very cold i say i am freezing. im not. when it's very hot i say im boiling. im not. to say you are starving - under normal circumstances in this country, is just a way of getting a feeling across. you could say ravinous (sp). better than i am very very very very very hungry.
