We have FINALLY got planning permission to build the house we want at the bottom of my inlaws garden.

As we want to sell this house in the summer (no central heating) we are considering moving into DP's grandma's house so we can get this place without all the clutter.

The only thing is that we will not have internet access for that time as DP got rid of the modem when we got broadband installed and most companies won't install it for less than a 12 month contract. Also dial up is so expensive as well.

What am I going to do without MN for that time. I will have severe withdrawal symptons.

Hopefuly we are not going to be moving until about september, so I will have to make the most of it while I can.

If you really can't do without it, you could buy an external modem (about £50). On the other hand, you might actually find that you have a life

I think I will find out what happens in the Real World rather than buyng modem.

Hopefully the inlaws will get their computer working again soon, so that we can use it to check emails,if not I may be paying weekly visits to an internet cafe to get them.

Cant you just extend your contract with your current provider?

MadameButterfly · 06/07/2004 10:22

We can't be bothered with all the hassle of having it installed at Grandma's when we are not going to ge there that long. It will only be a temporary move so we can sell this place and wait for our new house to be built.

crap new about The internet MB - but great news about he planning permission.

I'd work out how much you might end up spending in internet cafes - and it could work out as cheap to pay for a 12 month contract even if you don't end up using it all! Or try here for some which don't have a 12 month minimum.

I have zen and I'm sure they don't have a year minimum. It was no hassle at all getting hooked up. This website has really great impartial reviews of isp's and equipment.

We have got a date for our move.

The current tennant in the Bungalow is moving out on september 3rd, so we can move in that weekend (4/5th september). I am not sure when the computers will be packed away, but hopefully it will be after the bank holiday.

I will be making the most of the time the week before though as Richard has to go to Liverpool for a week for work

I will try to persuade him to get a modem but don't hold out much hope, but I will try to use his parents computer once a week to get my emails (and check on MN, of course).
