Narcissus? at an Easter egg hunt?? Really?

We went to a Cadbury egg hunt this Easter! It was fun. However, my under 8 year olds were expecting the hunted letters to spell out something like "bunny" or "chocolate". In the egg hunt today, the letters they spent ages finding spelt out the word 'narcissus'. What the ..? Is this weird or what???? Anyone else experience this?

I take it there were lots of daffodils around then?!

We went to one and the final word was a long flower name too. The hunt was in a lovely garden so makes total sense to me.

I'm all for learning new and challenging vocab. Under 8s would have been with an adult to help them.

I went to one. It was Wedgwood as the property has a Wedgwood connection. I'm guessing all the answers and questions were themed to the property.

Hey all! Yes I get it's a type of daffodil! 'Daffodil' would probably have been fine (with a stretch!) ... but 'narcissus'? ... really??? ... it went completely over most of the kids' heads!! ( I think maybe we're not cultured enough for a Cambridge egg hunt!!! ... 'chocolate bunnies' is much more our level!!)

At least it wasn't Jonquil.

Just to say thanks for all the comments! ... and after reading all the posts and thinking about it for a couple of days, I reckon it's not such a bad thing that Wimpole does this random thing!! I thought it was wierd and not appropriate for kids as an initial reaction, but now, knowing this is a thing, I have decided to see it as a way of opening up new conversations with the little ones, which we mightn't have had otherwise! (I'm not into flowers or the history of stately homes! ... but if this forces me to have such conversations with my children, then it can't b a bad thing I guess! It's not my thing! but it might be theirs!! Who knows!)

Ours (falkland) was daffodil. So same thing, just a tad more understandable for kids maybe!
