Puff the Magic Dragon!!!!

Don't think she understood it properly.

I did try and explain that mummy cries when she hears this song.

A more accurate description would be that mummy sobs uncontrollably and has to be helped to bed.

WHOEVER THOUGHT THIS WAS A SUITABLE SONG FOR CHILDREN???? (or anyone?)

ohh remembered another one

The Dance by Garth Brooks

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars alone
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn't I a king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have chanced it all

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance

Cole Porter's

"Birds do it, bees do it,
Even educated fleas do it,
Let's do it.."

and as a lovely downer...

Cole Porter's

"Every Time We Say Goodbye,
I die a little...
Why the gods above me who must be in the know,
think so little of me, they allow you to go..."

recently slaughtered by Simply Boring...

Woke up having thought the trauma of last night was behind me only to open my mail and read heart rending missive from Operation Child complete with pictures of crippled rubbish dump dwelling Roma orphans clutching shoeboxes of trinkets.

Set me off again.....

MarsLady · 10/03/2007 15:04

I have nothing but respect for you Kimi. Well done! I don't think it is odd... I do think it's appaudable!

Enid · 10/03/2007 15:13

I had to remove this from my ipod playlist due to impossibility of remaining sob-free

Calling my children home by Emmylou Harris

Those lives were mine to love and cherish.
To guard and guide along lifes way.
Oh God forbid that one should perish.
That one alas should go astray.

Back in the years with all together,
Around the place we'd romp and play.
So lonely now and oft times wonder,
Oh will they come back home some day.

Im lonesome for my precious children,
They live so far away.
Oh may they hear my calling...calling..
And come back home some day.

I gave my all for my dear children,
Their problems still with love I share,
Id brave lifes storm, defy the tempest
To bring them home from anywhere.

I lived my life my love I gave them,
To guide them through this world of strife,
I hope and pray well live together,
In that great glad here after life.

Im lonesome for my precious children,
They live so far away.
Oh may they hear my calling...calling.. and come back home some day

JanH · 10/03/2007 15:18

They can't hear her calling...calling because they've all switched their phones off to stop her nagging them

tiredemma · 10/03/2007 15:19

My lover's gone by Dido here gets to me ever since I went to the funeral of a husband of my mum's cousin and they played it in the crematorium as the coffin was going in.It was just so sad I was in buckets and I don't think i'd ever met the person who'd died!

Enid · 10/03/2007 15:27

lolol janh

you need Emmylou's plaintive tones for true gut wrenching sobs

ledodgy · 10/03/2007 15:42

Indith · 10/03/2007 15:47

God I need to slit my wrists now!

Nobody has mentioned Richard Marx and Hazards yet....

Man with a badge came knocking next morning
Here was I surrounded by a thousand fingers suddenly
Pointed right at me.

I swear I left her by the river
I swear I left her safe and sound

Got to love that good old 80s love rock

Indith · 10/03/2007 15:52

Hazard

ledodgy · 10/03/2007 16:01

Indith · 10/03/2007 16:04
