After my mamouth search of websites and shops trying to find a maternity bikini I thought I had cracked it ordering one from Vertbaudet and getting 25% off with a mumsnet secret code - I ebven got an order confirmation but upon ringing them today I have now been told that they are out of stock!!

Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck - I can;t believe it why send me a confirmation if the order is anything but - back to my search for swimwear!! GGGGRRRR!!!!

And apparently although I ordered stuff from La Redoute (and used codes) they have no record of me either!!

I'm Sorry Twinkie
I found them to be crap. I asked to pay them directly after a purchase and they set up an account! Doh! They couldn't undo their mistake so they had to send me a bill. I was cross.

Bugger . This sort of thing would have had me at the top of the cathedral with a rifle when I was preg, Twinkie ! I think you're being remarkably restrained .

Have you had a look at the usual suspects - JoJo Maman Bebe ? Blooming Marvelous ? Next ? Dorothy Perkins ? etc etc

Momof2 · 28/06/2004 12:23

Have you tried here
Sure you have though.

Momof2 · 28/06/2004 12:25

Oh boll**ks, just noticed it is all in dollars, sorry

Twinkie · 28/06/2004 12:36

Am still sitting here all sad though!!

Can't believe it thought had really good deal too what with getting 25% off - I wouldn't have minded but when I ordered it said it was in stock and they send me a confirmation saying it was being sent - thats what gets to me THEY LIED!!

You'd think they'd know better than to mess with a hormonal pregnant woman, wouldn't you ?

aloha · 28/06/2004 12:52

Twinkie, it was only a computer who lied to you. They have no morals

SofiaAmes · 28/06/2004 14:05

twinkie, I made quite a few beach trips when pregnant with my two. I just wore a normal bikini. I had to buy a new one as my old ones didn't fit me any more, but other than that it was a bog standard bikini. (don't get the "shorts" kind, just get the really normal ones ....it'll sit under your bump). I gained 3 stone with each of my pregnancies, but it really didn't matter because I was so clearly pregnant that any thought of even looking remotely sexy was so out the window I didn't care. Forget the maternity bikini...it's a rip off. AND if you buy a normal bikini, you can use it for the period afterwards when you are bfing (if you plan to) and your breasts are so big you don't fit back into your original suits.

marialuisa · 28/06/2004 14:17

Like sofia I wore my ordinary bikinis (even at 8 months gone!), you can get some decent looking ones with a bit of support for the top half now (as opposed to something a russian babushka might wear).

I can honestly say that wearing a bikini when pregnant was so liberating. Who gives a damn about cellulite when you've got a sticky-out belly-button?

Fio2 · 28/06/2004 14:27

I wore ordinary bikinis too! why do you need a maternity one? arent they the same?

WideWebWitch · 28/06/2004 14:32

Ha ha at the thought that it was only a computer lying! Twinkie, they should know better than to mess with a pregnant woman, hope you're feeling calmer (hmm, only 2 hours later, maybe not then!)

Bigmerlin · 28/06/2004 14:35

Try being pregnant and over 6ft! Bikinis are the least of my worries. I need maternity trousers with a 36inch inside leg!
Long Tall Sally do the grand total of 3 pairs of maternity trousers, and guess what, they were out of stock for so many months that I gave up waiting.

Thank God for H&M's maternity cropped trousers, I can wear them and pretend they are supposed to end just below my knees, as opposed to just above the ankle!

And in case any kind people start giving me links to tall girl maternity wear, I've only got 5 weeks left, so don't worry!

Just wear a normal bikini - and boycott Vertbaudet!
