Using slow cooker for the first time. 900g diced beef, onions, carrots, potatoes and 2 x colemans sachets beef casserole mix. Have I done it right? The whole lot is covered in water ...

When I say covered in water I mean mixed the contents of the sachets with water and poured in.

You can't really do it wrong. Chuck meat, veg and water in and leave for 6-8 hours.

Sounds about right, but it will be a late dinner if you want it tonight?

If it's too watery you can either leave the lid off for 30 minutes to an hour or mix a paste with juice from the cooker and cornflour.
Keep all harder food like potatoes and carrots towards the bottom of the cooker.

If you've used the full amounts of water from the packet instructions it might be too watery. With slow cooking the general rule is to at least halve the amount of liquid you'd use for normal cooking.

Turned out to be really nice! I had to add a little bit of cornflour to thicken the sauce up. I felt like the beef needed more seasoning. Any recommendations are welcome Wink
