It could be your security settings.... have a look at them:

Go into Control Panel and double click 'Internet Options'.

There should be a tab at the top of the grey box that appears called 'Security'. Click into that.

Check each part in turn to see what level of security is assigned to each. Or just click on the 'defaults' button if it allows you to.

HTH.

sounds like you might have picked up the worm/ virus that knocks out all your pc settings, was it working properly before, or is it a new set up?
I got hit by something beginning with S..... and a rapid blaster bug, recently
the PC shop told my to download the free copy of AVG anti virus off the Web, it cleared 20 od viruses out of the pc, including spyware, the PC seemed to sort its self out after that, I'm no techno so just followed instructions
www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php

this has picked up stuff getting thro norton and the firewall
good luck

Beccarollover · 25/06/2004 11:23

No dont get rid of your firewall - they are v useful!! Just wondering if you had just installed a firewall it may be blocking access to some sites.

Which antivirus program do you use?

What changed for the problems to happen?

Fairyfly · 25/06/2004 11:41

Well i had a virus, my computer was loosing internet connection every ten minutes. So i ran a Spyware remover, and this search and destroy spybot thingy. Now i still have the virus but also this new problem. My entire computer is F I also have zonelabs firewall installed and ad aware. I have tried everything and i am just making it worse, story of my life

me too fairyfly, a virus attacked my laptop and it died. I phoned Dell for advice and they've made it worse (and put me through to a call centre at the other side of the world arrgghhh!!!). Sorry no advice to give, just loads of sympathy ... i'm going to take mine to a pc doctor

Beccarollover · 25/06/2004 11:44

You say you have run a spyware remover - have you done a full virus scan using an antivirus product as well?

Beccarollover · 25/06/2004 11:45

Hopefully Beccarollover is helping you out via email but just in case .....

I had all sorts of problems when I used zonelabs and ad-aware. Removed both from system and no problems since. Might be worth a try.

Beccarollover · 25/06/2004 14:07

Fairyfly · 27/06/2004 23:25
