Obviously altruistic reasons come first - but I have time in my week to do some voluntary work and want to do something that is meaningful to me and potentially puts me in touch with other volunteers. I work 3 days per week but I have quite an isolating job with just one occasional colleague. I miss the camaraderie of a larger work team, so if I do voluntary work I want it to be something that gives me social connection - either whilst doing the actual work or because they are a big enough organisation to have social events - rather than something which is equally as isolating as my day job.
I'm curious to know what volunteering other people do and if you've made any new friends out of it.
