Your worst moment on mumsnet?

OK - this is meant to be lighthearted & not meant to stir up any old battles. Just noticed a few posts recently from newbies suggesting that they haven't found mn particularly easy to break into at first and, being newish myself, just wondered if any of you old timers would put us newer members at ease by sharing any memorable snubbings, false troll accusations, clangers you've made, threads that really DIDN't work out the way you meant them to, etc...

Ideally you'd be able to laugh at them now rather than still being bitter

OP posts:

Had a couple of threads where it was just me talking to myself.
I'm doing one now on this board about mobile phones!

Tortington · 28/02/2007 18:47

most threads i go on actually.

SenoraPostrophe · 28/02/2007 18:47

it was starting a "worst moments" thread asd I recall

DarrellRivers · 28/02/2007 18:48

most threads I start, apart from one which made the homepage, as they usually die a slow lingering death

Fooey · 28/02/2007 18:48

Mine was where I started a thread to sneer at a shiny faced Boden model who was prominently advertising a cardy alongside active convos

Pruni came on and got all huffy because the model ("Juliet") was a mate of hers

the big LIAR was she fuck

I nearly cacked myself though

SenoraPostrophe · 28/02/2007 18:49

Ok really, I once posted a thread about a friend's child in which I exaggerated the problem (out of laziness really - it was easier that way). friend saw the thread and was offended. think she got over it though.

PeachyClair · 28/02/2007 18:49

It would have been about 3-4 years ago, I'd just done a BF course and I posted a comment- somebody immediately jumperd onme and said 'I never heard that is that true.....' quite aggressivly- actually it was but I chickened out of the fight and did a runner that lasted 6 months LOL!

Not ahlf as touch these days.

It can be ahrd to break into, and even us very oldies (my first post was when ds1, now 7, was a newborn) feel a bit wary at times. Just don the hardhat and get on in- it'll be ok

Probably when I clicked the link and discovered that the thread linked to by a SWMNBN's spokeswoman as being an example of why MN was being sued was started by me.

Blandmum · 28/02/2007 18:56

I argued with Jimjams once. I was being a twat, and would like to publically appologise

zippitippitoes · 28/02/2007 18:56

scariest was alittle banter with www which definitely bit back

and a thread about people who live in london

whiffywarthog · 28/02/2007 19:20

hmm i've been on here for over a year (yes, newbie) and the vast majority of the time i am ignored. i've even thought, f*ck it, i'll be provocative, and it's like i've never posted... at some point, the fat kid too short to see over the counter will wander away hanging head sadly, hands in pockets, kicking imaginary sand.

not that i'm bitter or anything

welshmum · 28/02/2007 19:23

When I was on my ante-natal group thread and there was a big row about us wanting to be exclusive, it was horrible and everyone piled in to lecture us. We were all hormonal pregnant ladies and should have been indulged

Greeves · 28/02/2007 19:24

major run-in with some childminders when I was new and got accused of being a troll

cod complained about me for using too many rude fanny references

got called a fascist by some utter lunatic called 'nanneh'

god, FAR too many to list them all

Greeves · 28/02/2007 19:26

lol Foo-Foo, I remember that one well, I pmsl

That Boden woman did look like a heavily varnished wooden spoon with a face painted on it

chestnutty · 28/02/2007 19:28

still no one has posted on my mobile phone thread.
Its on the other subjecy booard ie THIS ONE!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 28/02/2007 19:32

Hunker, i thought your worst moment was the "namechange spreadsheet" thread...?

I think my worst moment was changing my name to post a thread about how awful a mother I felt, and then halfway in to the thread, whilst replying to someone, I forgot to change my name back to my anonymous one.

I have had a dappy row about nappy disposal. I also lost it a bit on a jar food thread, but something positive came out of that. I have had major disagreements on threads, but, aside from the one time, and also with one stalkerish type poster, its never been carried across the board.

cazzybabs · 28/02/2007 19:34

I also had a run in with Jimjams - I now never ever post on a thread with her on it unless I post there first of course!

saltire · 28/02/2007 19:35

I posted once about an incident whilst childminding. I felt I had dealt with it (the incident) in an appropriate way. However, I was called irresponible, unprofessional and told i was "losing control". I felt very picked on, and it took a while before i really felt confident to post properly.

MascaraOHara · 28/02/2007 19:35

in ansdwer to the OP... oh I don't know... take your pick

harpsichordcarrier · 28/02/2007 19:38

yes I think it must have been realising that I was namechecked in the letter from You Know Who's Lawyers

saying something so crashingly bloody dull it didn't merit a mention on the flipping news
unlike missy oh I'm so flipping witty morningpaper

Carmenere · 28/02/2007 19:39

When Soupdragon told me to F*ckoff on a swmnbn thread because I took the piss out of her.

Bobalina · 28/02/2007 19:40

Wow, do you 'celeb' posters get stalker-posters?

harpsichordcarrier · 28/02/2007 19:40

oh and starting a jolly little jokey thread that got a bit Out of Hand
and namechanging to admit something embarrassing and then posting on another thread effectively outing myself and having to send an email to the lovely JJ saying heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllpppppp but luckily no-one noti8ced I hope

misdee · 28/02/2007 19:40

i think my worst one was starting a thread about the amount of people who bottle feed in hospital

oh that one ran and ran.
