Thank you, Dixie - I will check out Attic24. I've already ordered my first 4mm crochet hook and some pretty blue wool (thanks to TheWoollybacksWife's advice!)

I am quite alarmingly clumsy and talentless at anything requiring skill or dexterity, but I want to master this!

Great idea MrsEvadne I've never croched and am another RL lurker like someone else up thread, but will look at your thread when I'm home.

DS is ill off school today so he's watching tv and I'm about to crochet some Candy Squares, I posted my first few off on saturday so I need to do some more now.
I second Attic24, and also if you join Ravelry there are loads of free patterns on there for inspiration :)

(waves back to Horizon, am near a Harbour on the Bay at night, but closer to the River for days - I use my train journey in the mornings to watch the waves and set me up for the day surrounded by tall buildings!)

Fid. That sounds lovely, hot chocolate & baking! So does the Pretzel & Beer. You can't get a decent pretzel in the UK. I need to plan another trip over!

WoollyHuggers. It's fab to see so many people starting up again or learning. Squares don't have to be perfect, just made with love & hugs.

I'm feeling very envious of those of you near the various Coast lines. I miss living by the sea.

FB update from 6/7 mins ago.

Dad's just spoken on the tellingbone with the Hospice, and there's no change in Arnty Candys Status. She's still very weak however that kick ass, f**k you spirit is somehow keeping her going. I made Dad's voice go all croaky and his eyes leak when he had to explain to the ward sister that a (cheeky) Fluffy inanimate furball was asking after her and please to tell her that I'd called.. That is all.. I luffs you all, but right now that's mostly reserved for Candy.. xx

This isn't a candle. But it's one of those 'Quartz/salt' (?!) lights. It has been constantly lit for Candy over the last week.

Zombie might be amused to know that, on a thread about 18 months ago, someone (maybe Stratters) told me to lick the light to check out its salt content. And, yes, I licked the light. And, yes, it does taste salty. And, yes, I can imagine Zombie roaring with laughter about MNers licking their lamps.

Changing into a red silk dress for the school run. Unusually formal perhaps but it'll brighten up a drizzly day:) Safe crossing Zombie. You will be remembered.

Chipping - I'm home. Thank you for asking. It was really difficult , scary and hard. But since 2 I've been feeling very unwell and I'm counting the hours til dc and dh home. Not sure what to do with dog. She's barking to go out but not sure she should have door open as I can't get up easily to check on her.
