Help! My computers being weird

Hi
We've got a problem with the netsky.b worm on our computer. (STILL CAN'T BELIEVE THAT DH COULD BE SOOO STUPID AS TO TRY TO OPEN THAT ATTACHMENT...) Have done google searches and followed instructions on various sites as to how to get rid of it...
Both of us are fairly computer literate, but these methods don't seem to be working.
Can anyone suggest something we may have done wrong or a good webboard for getting help with these sorts of things? It would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I had a nasty virus the other day, it was switching my internet connection off, and my anti virus!

A friend gave me this web- site to try.... www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/ (sorry, can't do links)

You are not downloading anything onto your computer with this, it is free and scans your computer and gets rid of most viruses i think.

HTH x

thanks for the advice Saintshar, we've tried that one with no success. I'm afaid that this seems to have gone beyond the normal, if there is such a thing with viruses. I'm really hoping that it's not going to come to formatting the hard drive and reinstalling everything.....

Sometimes it comes to that i am afriad This website was my last hope before my computer went to the computer hospital!

I found out that i had got mine, because i hadn't up-dated windows recently. They put up security patches on there web site.
Obviously only applies if you run windows.

I will have a search around the internet tomorrow if you are not sorted by then, if you like?

thanks that would be good. Maybe you'll come up with something that I haven't.
We've run about 6 different scan products, both online (like the Pandasoft one) and downloadable ones too (Antivir and EZAV). We have followed advice as to how to edit the system regisrty and scanning and rebooting with the system restore option disabled... if you can find anything else I'd be extremely grateful!!!

What are the symptoms? Mine is playing up too. See above thread.

I think I've cracked it. There was a virus removal tool for Netsky on Symantec's home page, which I have just finished running and it said it deleted 4 files!!!! We'll see what happens...
Willow, the symptoms for Netsky were mainly that it made our internet access really slow, but the reason for this is that it turns your PC into a spamming machine! (not very nice for everyone in your address book). Will read your other post now and see if I can helpyou at all.
