Another very long time lurker here but never sure what to say. But so sad an thinking of Zombie and her family and friends.
My reason for delurking is I thought Zombie and the Phalanx would approve of these Fuck Cancer socks made in memory of our friend's sister. Not just profits but all proceeds are split between Macmillan, Cancer Research and St Gemma's Hospice so brilliant in many ways. They're also excellent socks for cycling, walking, running etc.
The only minor issue is they keep selling out but there is a link to be notified when they have new stock.
You can also write in "Damn, Bugger and" just above Fuck if you want to make them more personal to Zombie.
Anyway, they seemed a very appropriate thing to link and I hope that's ok.

We're definitely planning a visit at some point soon. Derby is really underrated. Lovely people, incredibly cheap house prices, amazing countryside not far away plus loads of pretty little villages with tea shops. I miss it. It was nice to see the rams on tv, even if it was a draw in the end.

Love the socks, thanks for that link! And I second the we delete blood cancer organisation. I'm too old for Anthony Nolan but not that and it really easy to sign up for. If you get the call, apparently it's only a day out of work or whatever.

I've done the Cancer Research 5k fun run for the last two years and it's been great fun; running with a friend, wonderful atmosphere and feeling incredible pumped up - the DCs even joined in this last time! Friends were happy to sponsor me even though I put loads of annoying shit about it on FB. Then I did Stoptober, which was actually, really annoyingly, quite a lot harder and the general response was, oh do shut up, it's only stopping drinking and it's no effort, so stop bleating on and sponsor yourself. So I did.

Anyhoo, sorry about the little rant.

Thoughts still with Zombie and her family, it's just such a tough tough time for loved ones too Just entering the last couple of weeks 'anniversary' before the day my Mum died from cnting cancer and flooded with memories of each of those days as we get closer to anniversary of her passing. Can honestly say it was just brutal for her - and for us to just helplessly watch - but know for fact it would have been so very, very, different had she been able to be in a hospice (she was literally without critical drugs at points as the 'nursing' bit where she was was so shockingly awful). Genuinely wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy and is the primary reason why I am so very passionate about the work that hospices do.] Is also the reason why when I think of Zombie* my primary thought and hope is that she is now utterly pain free
