Home fires, candles and gin for zombie
cakesonatrain · 27/01/2017 09:33

It's bloody freezing here. Never mind a candle, I might light the fire for Zombie.
Working from home is lovely in some ways, but it does mean I have to heat the house!

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 27/01/2017 09:33

TheRealLoisLane. I'm so sorry to hear about your little sister 💐 36 - it's heartbreaking 😢 A Hospice really is a lovely place to be when you're in a lot of pain, they're so good at sorting that out & making you feel cared about. You, and she, will be in our thoughts x

SabrinaTheTeenageBitch · 27/01/2017 09:35

Hoping you are comfortable lovely zombie

Thereal - been in a similar situation a few years ago. Lots of strength and Flowers for you

Therealloislane · 27/01/2017 09:43

Thank you all for the thoughts.

My heart is breaking in two.

She has a beautiful woolly hugs blanket which will be going with her. She's in a lot of pain & it's hard to watch.

Thanks everybody & sorry zombie for high jacking your thread x

OldhamAthletic · 27/01/2017 09:44

Well I've re-joined so I can add my best wishes to zombie. Her kindness and generosity shone through during my brief conversations with her. One of the first times I spoke to her she invited me and my husband to stay at her house when I mentioned we might be staying nearby for our wedding anniversary. But that's zombie all over, she would not hesitate to open herself to others. She was trusting, friendly and very optimistic about life. I am grateful that I got to know her, even though the circumstances were fraught.
Thank you zombie for entering my life albeit for a short period. You DID make a difference and so many people are the better for knowing you x

CiderwithBuda · 27/01/2017 09:49

Hope you are still pain free Zombie. Thinking of you.

TheReal - I am sorry. Thinking of you and your sister too. Flowers

Mummylin · 27/01/2017 10:06

thereall so sorry about your sister, I also have been in your shoes with my younger sister.
Zombie, I hope you had a peaceful and pain free sleep. I am reticent to read anymore updates now. I'm sure others will be the same.
We the DBF team will miss you so much. Your humour. Your stoicism and most of all your posts.
Thinking of Zombielad & Zombielass. And your dear niece.

SpiralArchitect · 27/01/2017 10:44

Lovely Zombie - wishing you a peaceful and pain-free journey and much love and strength to your family Flowers

I keep visualising the Phalanx, spears aloft, forming a guard of honour for you...

kaitlinktm · 27/01/2017 10:48

Do go gentle into that good night Zombie dear.

UnbornMortificado · 27/01/2017 10:48

Thereal she shouldn't have to be in pain.

I'm on with my training now and it's the number one aim. To manage pain it's absolutely hammered home to you.

I'm sorry your both going through this Flowers

TanteRose · 27/01/2017 10:59

PootlewasthebestFlump · 27/01/2017 11:04

So sorry she is in pain. My dad suffered terribly in his final days until they got the pain relief right. It rips you apart to see it when you can't give them comfort.

Please rest easy soon Zombie. Thinking of you all.

3littlebadgers · 27/01/2017 11:09

Flowers to Zombie and Thereal

IwasAM · 27/01/2017 11:17

TheRealLois My thought are with all of youFlowers This is indeed such a bastarding c*nt of a diseaseAngry - 36 is no age.

The sole comfort in the sea of shit engulfing your DS, and you and your family, is the fact that she is going into a hospice, as it's hugely likely that they will be able to stabilise her which will gift her freedom from the horrific prison of pain, and in turn will gift you being able to see her pain free and lifting the utter torment of seeing a beloved one wracked by that pain. It also then gifts ALL of you a wholly different quality of time together, one made possible solely by both that unparalleled skill in pain management and by the incredible pastoral care that hospices alone have. Please know you are in my thoughts and I am sending you huge, and very UN-MN'y, {{{hugs}}}

My thoughts are also with zombie and again just fervently hoping that she is pain free as she slowly slides away, that her crossing is but a fleeting moment and that those around her are able to take some small comfort from that. Other than that I literally have no words left.

Star Zombie Star

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 27/01/2017 11:18

TheRealLoisLane. Zombie would not consider it hijacking at all - not one bit! Is your sister a MNer? I'm glad she has a WoollyHug 😊 I hope this doesn't sound insensitive, but I'd be very tempted to split the WollyHug with her - have half each. If you don't crochet, someone here would sort the edge out for you. It would be like one of the necklaces that fit together xx
