making your own web page

i want to make my own web page and have activated my personal webspace with my internet provider. I want to put pictures of my kids on it for all the family to see. however, i have NO IDEA how or where to start to make the page!!! anyone know???

Do they have something for you to use? Which ISP is it? If you just want pics up, there should be some good freeware... maybe.

If you let me know the ISP I'll see if they have something for you to use. I've given up on doing anything productive today (except dinner, bath and bed).

im with tiscali. i have downloaded the WS_FTP PRO but its just going straight over my head!!!

The FTP software is for uploading your pages onto the internet. They should have given you another piece of software for actually creating the pages - probably called an HTML editor.

If you use MS Office, the Front Page package is very easy to use. And i can produce some nice looking pages. Basicially if you can use a word processor you could use Front Page - I have my Y7s using it regularly. Also both Publisher and Power Point can be used to create websites too.

Word can also be set up as websites too. Create your page as normal. Add hyperlinks between pages so you can click to move between pages. That's it. Just upload and it'll be ready to view.

If you are using word as suggested by Hulababy then you go to insert and then click on hyperlink. Then just select the page/file you want to link to.

Don't think you are thick at all - its like a different language ! After you have created the page you have to use the WS_FTP PRO software you were given to transfer the pages from your computer to the tiscali server. I've never used that so don't know what it looks like. Did Tiscali give you any instructions on settings to use etc?

ive tried that but it wont do it. tiscali are crap and have no proper instructions

Maybe try Yahoo - they have a similar service which is free at uk.geocities.yahoo.com/
They say that all you have to do is answer a few questions and they create the page for you !

hi busy bee have you thought of just using a photo album type page? may be easier yahoo has one.
