My brother is telling me to go to 'print' and it should come up in the box but it doesn't. Anyone know how I do it?

I think you need to have something like AdobeAcrobat installed.

southeastastra · 22/02/2007 13:49

isn't it an option in the 'save as' bit?

NotQuiteCockney · 22/02/2007 13:50

Why do you want it as a pdf? Are you trying to send it to someone with a mac, or without word? Easier to save it as an RTF.

And yeah, I think you need some (non-free) Adobe software to do save it as a pdf.

NotQuiteCockney · 22/02/2007 13:51

There are a lot of free conversion tools online, as well, but I haven't ever used any of them.

Gobbledigook · 22/02/2007 13:52

I think I've got adobe acrobat 7.0

I need it as PDF because I don't have a printer at the moment and I need someone to print it out for me. Everyone that has done it - the title font has disappeared and gone to a standard 'times roman' type thing which is rubbish.

I sent it to my brother and he says put it in pdf as it 'embeds' the font?!?!?

In the save as bit it just takes you to your explorer bit so you can save it wherever doesn't it?

Heeeeelp!

you can only create .pdf files if you have the correct software.

pesme · 22/02/2007 13:54

you could try saving it as .html and send it to him

Nip · 22/02/2007 13:55

you need adobe acrobat installed - and then you click on file, then print - then change the printer to adobe acrobat - it'll then open up in pdf

southeastastra · 22/02/2007 13:55

under 'save as type'

northerner · 22/02/2007 13:56

Yeah you need pdf re writing softaware. You can download a free trail from adobe.com. It gives you 3 conversions for free.

Under 'save as type' it doesn't have pdf - just lots of different versions of word, wordperfect and works!

OP posts:
Davesworth · 22/02/2007 13:57

this functionality is built in to openoffice's word processing program

Nip · 22/02/2007 13:58

you dont save as

you go to print - then change the printer to adobe (if its installed)

NotQuiteCockney · 22/02/2007 13:58

GDG, just save it as an RTF (Rich Text Format) file. That's how I always share documents with macs. Much less work for everyone.

puppydavies · 22/02/2007 13:58

if you have word 2007 there's an add-in download:

www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=F1FC413C-6D89-4F15-991B-63B07BA5F2E5&displaylang=en

otherwise i'm sure you'll find some free software somewhere. can't be more help cos i have mac like your bro, so is built in.

Gobbledigook · 22/02/2007 13:58

Littlelapin - downloading deskpdfprofessional now. Will come back with questions in a minute!
