They did a very good job of tidying up after themselves. Who knows what they will get up to next though? Why not join us and find out?

Excellent news about the hospice bed, Zombie. Flowers

Fiderer · 20/01/2017 11:55

That is good Z. Don't update till you want to, we're happy enough pottering around here to keep the thread going. Some of us you can't shut up!

Glühwein is less glue more glow, delicious, warming & fruity & perfect for cold winter days. I've been buying the one from our village wine cooperative. To support the smaller vintners of course

Somer The international relations were on the whole decent. We were both a bit off with each other yesterday & felt bad so the texting cleared the air.

Lemon It was a place of love, light and laughter - wishing Zombie that.

I want a doughnut now. Hearts nekkid sauna-ing is usual here. The sauna in the garden is a lovely little thing. Smells of wood & wholesomeness. There's a little changing room & then the sauna bit itself. I never go in anymore but can dispatch a child to dust it off for the Phalanx.

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 20/01/2017 11:57

Great news Zombie - I know they'll be doing tests etc, but I hope you can relax & let yourself be looked after for a few days & that the steroids kick in soon so that you can make the most of being catered for 💐

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 20/01/2017 12:05

BLOODY iPad, I even took it with me to the German Markets & it STILL spell checks to Gluewein, despite me faffing around and using the ü. I've had words with it again - so we'll see how it goes Hmm

Glühwein

Hmm... we'll see, I'm still not convinced Hmm

HappyAxolotyl · 20/01/2017 12:26

Zombie, so pleased to hear you have not had a long wait for a hospice bed. I hope you will be able to snuggle down and enjoy some TLC.
My first 8 Candy's Hugs squares are on their way, and I have a big bag of wool so lots more love to send!

cozietoesie · 20/01/2017 13:10

Glühwein is wonderful stuff. Smile

AcrossthePond55 · 20/01/2017 13:17

So happy you will soon be resting more comfortably, Zombie.

Glühwein und Bratwurst mit Brötchen, bitte! Then Apfelkuchen und eine glas erdbeeren auslese.

I've packed my dirndl.

Fiderer · 20/01/2017 13:22

This thread is making me hungry. All with her leek & potato soup, sausage sandwiches &&&&&&& pork pies.

For the love of God /Zombie, some bugger fling me a pork pie.

Fiderer · 20/01/2017 13:31

Although, re Bratwurst. My 3 ask every time we visit my mum in England why is it that we live in the land of the sausage but the ones at Granny's house taste better?

We often have "breakfast at noon" there so I suggested maybe it was the whole meal, sausages & bacon & eggs & tomatoes & mushrooms. Toast & marmalade. Buckets of tea & coffee. But all 3 said, no, the sausages. And the bacon. She orders them from a farm for us.

But we have great beer, cheap wine & Sekt here

Bloody hungry now.

OhTheRoses · 20/01/2017 13:51

Good news ))((

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 20/01/2017 14:03

So pleased you've got a bed, Zombie. I'm hoping that they sort the pain meds ASAP, get you on a good regime that will keep it sorted for when you're home and basically spoil you rotten!

I bloody love the NHS.

Agree with Fid, I'm feeling hungry now! I've never had a Berliner, they're at Waitrose, you say? Hmmmmmm........

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 20/01/2017 14:05

Fid - 🐷🐖🍰 ⬅️ pretend that's a pie emoticon!

Best I can do, I'm afraid!

Fiderer · 20/01/2017 14:08

Malcolm that made me laugh Grin

Allalonenow · 20/01/2017 14:22

German beer is alright but it's not as good as Belgian beer.

cozietoesie · 20/01/2017 14:25

There was a tale I was told - be advised that this is apocryphal. A major manufacturer of pork pies couldn't square their sales figures with market research among the women those responsible for shopping in large stores - so they did some 'in-depth research' and discovered that a goodly proportion of pork pies are actually bought by men people who are 'subjected' to healthy diets at home. It seems that there are a great many people who contentedly (seemingly) eat their 'lettuce' and then buy - and stuff down - a quick pork pie on the way to or from the office! Grin

I mention this only to warn you that taking such things across country boundaries may put you at the mercy of (salivating) customs officers.Wink Don't be surprised if they're 'confiscated'.

As I said - this is only what I was told, once. I've never seen the actual research. It does sound likely though, doesn't it? Smile

MrsNutella · 20/01/2017 14:29

I'm curious what a Berliner is at Waitrose. Here it is usually a normal jam doughnut.

A doughnut here is a horrible cousin ring doughnut with chocolate on.

I find a Berliner waaaaaay nicer. At particular times of year you find a huge range of fillings and toppings. But that also varies according to region.

PacificDogwod · 20/01/2017 14:31

Oh, I must vehemently disagree!
German sausages are FAR superior to any so-called British 'equivalent', although I concede that recipes from butcher to butcher vary.
The abomination that is Richmond sausage does not deserve the name though Shock

Beer is vile wherever it comes from - gimme wine. Or Sekt!
Or nothing until DryJanuary is over...

PacificDogwod · 20/01/2017 14:33

Berliner are fabulous.
They will be everywhere in the run up to Fastnacht/Karnival before Ash Wednesday Grin

NB The only thing better than a good spice Nürnberger Rostbratwurst is a Currywurst IMO

Fiderer · 20/01/2017 14:33

Fling me pies to test that cozie

Am off to Belgium All for research. FidGirl & I went to Luxembourg in the summer hols for €30 Shock L not v interesting. They had cows though & we only have vines & a huge forest. I thought they had banks & interesting financial arrangements, wasn't expecting cows.

I have only been to Belgium once & that was with a friend with a dodgy passport who spoke no French. That was a fun trip.

Fiderer · 20/01/2017 14:36

PD Am fed up with complaints about the school meals so have taken over the ordering with the catering company.

Guess what the students want most?

PacificDogwod · 20/01/2017 14:38

Mixed salads?

Grin
MrsNutella · 20/01/2017 14:49

Fid Ice cream or chips?Wink

Actually, you've just reminded me. When they have Currywurst and chips for lunch at Kindergarten DS somehow manages to find room for repeated servings. Apparently he went for lunch 4 times one day.
They have a new system where the kids go when they are hungry.... or just as often as possible if you are DS Grin

MrsNutella · 20/01/2017 14:51

Pacific thank you, yes until Ash Wednesday! I wanted to say Easter but knew that was wrong.
I didn't know about Fasching my first year and it was... interesting. I was mostly just upset when all the doughnuts suddenly disappeared ConfusedBlush
