They did a very good job of tidying up after themselves. Who knows what they will get up to next though? Why not join us and find out?

Beeindrukt Allalone Star

You may be packed darling but have you got our lunch boxes sorted?

Somerville · 19/01/2017 23:31

Cozie Grin

My father is forces and my mother is of Irish descent. I impressed everyone at university with my unusually wide repertoire of drinking songs...

I could come on road trip but only with said translation because I'm too busy trying to improve my French at the moment to remember half forgotten German. Also I'd need a lift because I'm too dyspraxic to handle driving on the right. Blush
The summer before last the kids wanted to go to Italy on hols so my parents had to come with us and share the driving. I will never live that down.

Zombie I am thinking of you often.

UnbornMortificado · 19/01/2017 23:33

Is it Germany that's got that motorway with no speed limit?

Autobahn or something or another.

Allalonenow · 19/01/2017 23:36

Ah! yes lunch!
I think bacon & bean and leek & potato soups in flasks, ham & cheese rolls, sausage sandwiches, and fruit cake all travel well and will sustain us on the journey.
And I'll also order pork pies to take to Fid.

cozietoesie · 19/01/2017 23:38

Ah. Pork pies. Remember the market research on those! Wink

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 20/01/2017 00:08

Perfect! I'll order a couple of dozen 100s flasks.

Spot on Unborn no speed limit on autobahn.

Vroooooom!

On this trip Somer we are all multi-lingual and all difficulties are suspended Smile

HerRoyalFattyness · 20/01/2017 00:20

What's this? We off to Germany?
I know how to say shit on German. That's about the limit of my multilingual abilities.

HerRoyalFattyness · 20/01/2017 00:21

in German. I can say "shit" in German. Not shit on German. Two very different things there...

AcrossthePond55 · 20/01/2017 00:23

Oooh, Germany! Spent a lovely year in a town near Nürnberg ages (and ages and ages) ago. Walks in the Fürth Stadtwald, the first time I ever heard a cuckoo. Great little restaurants, lovely parks.

Good German wine, lovely cake and turkish coffee (mit schlag).

Count me in!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 20/01/2017 00:43

Right, off to bed with lists.

Funny how Fid's gone a bit quiet Grin

Filling in form to emigrate to OZ toute snell!!

Fiderer · 20/01/2017 02:43

Phalanx Tour planning in full swing I see :)

Spent most of the evening texting a gentleman from a cigar country. Saw him earlier today and was a bit frazzled as all loopy here with half-yearly reports due. And school sec still off sick with High Dudgeon so am in a bilingual tizz. But friendly international relations re-established.

Have lots of rooms. Have a sauna in the garden. Dinky wooden house thingy smells great but I don't like saunas. Dry out my lenses & gets v hot but anyone brave enough to get past the wild boar is most welcome to try it out. Am sure I have wooden swords & HP wands upstairs somewhere from when FidBoys were younger.

Good to see PD on board with translation help. Local wineries on standby for Phalanx influx. Ooh might get medal from mayor for services to tourism.

BathshebaDarkstone · 20/01/2017 04:21

Morning! Drinking coffee and watching BBC world news. BrewSmile

Packing? Aaarrrgh! I fell asleep! I'm usually far more organised than this! Shock

BathshebaDarkstone · 20/01/2017 06:05

I can say "ich bin ein hubschrauber", which means "I am a helicopter". Don't ask. Grin

PotOfYoghurt · 20/01/2017 06:08

But I'm all the way in New Zealand! Landed on Wednesday night and it's been gorgeous ever since. My delicate English skin isn't used to the ozone hole anymore and I've burnt the right side of my body just sitting outside for a scone this morning.

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 20/01/2017 06:47

Oooh Germany. I'm in. I can't remember what it's called, but I want a whole slice of that thingy they make at the Christmas Market in Cologne. Pastry rolled into huge long lengths, cheese & mushrooms added, rolled up into a long sausage roll shape & cooked in a wood burning oven...heaven. (They did some meaty number too - ham & cheese maybe? Being veggie I didn't pay much attention). That & a mug of Gluewein & I'm happy. Then there's the bakeries, all over the place, train stations etc, that do The Most Amazing filled rolls, with rolls made by angels - all manner of seeded things that you can actually bite into without breaking your teeth...why can't we have those here in the U.K.?

So anyway, I'm in, but I'm clinging to PD because my German is non existent.

Fiderer · 20/01/2017 06:57

Phalanx Tour should be re-routed to New Zealand. -11°C here now & sounds much more sconey outside weather there. Here is freezy arse outside weather.

BathshebaDarkstone · 20/01/2017 07:17

DD just said that gluhwein "doesn't sound very appetising!" GrinWine

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 20/01/2017 07:34

Morning all! Glad to see the road trip planning is in full swing!

I'm wasn't sure what Glüwein was until I looked up how to spell it(!) and saw it was mulled wine. I agree it doesn't sound particularly appetising, I had a mental image of melted down Pritt Sticks! However, I love mulled wine and Glüwein sounds much more exotic, plus it's given me the chance to use the ü on my phone for the first time!

UnbornMortificado · 20/01/2017 08:14

Morning everyone.

BBB I heard of the autobahn on here. I learn more on mn then I ever did in school.

I did German at school, I failed the gcse. The German teacher was terrifying I ended up doing the spoken test in English.

Zombie hope you've had a decent night and get some news today. Lots of love as always 💖

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 20/01/2017 08:31

Well I would rather be a helicopter than a small, round, jam-filled donut.

I am happy to help with translation too, my conversational German is still pretty good especially after some wine

Fids do we have to do the sauna nekkid seeing as we are in Forrin?

Somerville · 20/01/2017 08:35

Spent most of the evening texting a gentleman from a cigar country.... friendly international relations re-established.

Is that German for sexting, Fids?!

MrsNutella · 20/01/2017 09:09

zombie I hope you are resting and comfortable.

hearts I was thinking about that quote the other day.... while eating a doughnut Grin I think the 45th is definitely a doughnut?

I'm also happy to eat other cake help translate.

IamtheZombie · 20/01/2017 09:49

The hospice has just rung. They have a bed for me today and will collect me at 1.00.

Thank goodness the main packing got done yesterday.

There is wifi at the hospice so I'm taking the laptop with me so I should be back online tonight or tomorrow.
