They did a very good job of tidying up after themselves. Who knows what they will get up to next though? Why not join us and find out?

PotofYoghurt
Look out for a red packet that says Lucky Candy. Those are quite traditional for festivals and the like, so they might sell them. They're a strawberry flavour boiled sweet.
"Lychee Candy" is quite nice too.
Avoid the coconut candy if you like Bounty because it is not the same! No chocolate on it, for a start! Just sugar and a kind of burnt-coconut flavour. In fact, anything that looks like chocolate in general, as it is more likely to be carob. And I don't like the plum or guava sweets that are widely available, even though I like plum and guava... There are plenty of others I don't like, too, but I can't remember brand names, sorry.

If you ask someone studenty-age you will probably encounter someone who is delighted to practise their English by translating what flavours the sweets or other snacks are.

I just discovered my specialist subject for Mastermind! Sweets in foreign airports!

Somerville · 17/01/2017 14:42

Zombie I've got my fingers crossed for you today, hoping that everything falls into place with your cats and your nurse etc..

Lovelybangers · 17/01/2017 15:36

Sending good vibes to you today Zombie.

Hope it all works out okay today.

MrsNutella · 17/01/2017 16:00

I bought sweets for work colleagues in a Japanese airport... I knew they would be interesting Grin I eventually found someone to eat them in another team we worked with.

They were delighted.

Zombs sending love and BrewWineCake

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 17/01/2017 16:05

Mmmmmm! Am liking the fact that you are all so knowledgeable about sweets of the forrin kind!

I remember being brought back gummy bears from Germany when I was little. It seemed rather exotic at the time, but they're everywhere now! Not as exciting as Chinese or Japanese sweets though. 🍬🍫🍭

Fiderer · 17/01/2017 16:28

Don't think there are any particular German sweets, all v generic & international, alas.

They do have great fresh pretzels though. V good for a hangover, all salty & soft & delicious dunked in mustard. Am sure the Phalanx appreciate the hours of research that went into determining that Wink

Talking of delicious, am listening to Cabin Pressure & trying to decide whose voice is the more del, Roger Allam or Anthony Head.

Marcipex · 17/01/2017 17:26

I always buy sweets anywhere forrin.
The Turkish cherry chews are fab, like much better cherry chewits.

Bring us some guava candy please Potofyoghurt but don't bother with the chicken feet.

BathshebaDarkstone · 17/01/2017 18:06

Picked DS2 up, went to the park, picked DD up, in the Sainsbury's café, DS2 had bangers, mash and peas, DD had a lasagne from the adult menu, they shared a double chocolate choux bun and a warm chocolate pudding and cream for pudding, I had a large caramel latte and a mince pie.

BathsLad should be home tomorrow! GrinGrinGrin

BathshebaDarkstone · 17/01/2017 18:12

No, sorry! Just making sure they didn't ban us too! Grin

BathshebaDarkstone · 17/01/2017 18:16

I do know their prawn crackers taste much stronger than ours. I used to buy them from Oriental City. DM goes to Chinatown quite a lot, I'll see if she has any recommendations. Silk worms in a tin? Grin

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 17/01/2017 18:50

Fids what about Echte Luebecker Marzipan?

Cant stand the stuff personally but it's all over the place! Up north anyways.

BathshebaDarkstone · 17/01/2017 18:58

DM says spring rolls, dumplings, crispy anything.

Fiderer · 17/01/2017 19:21

Hearts We're too far south maybe, never heard of it. Anyway, marzipan? Yuck yuck spit spit spit - as we say in this house. It came I think from a story about flowers from that children's programme with the woman with the spotty plane & the dog. Has become a family favourite saying for yuck.

We had quite the afternoon here at school. Village in the arse end of nowhere, had a YouTuber come & talk to the students. Christ. 75 students hyperventilating. I tried to slink off but was the responsible teacher so had to stay & I have never witnessed anything like it.

My hair was on fire at the end. The teacher who organised it is the coolest teacher ever & I'm v unpopular with some as I had to limit numbers. But I did get those who attended permission to use their phones for the never-ending selfies.

It was the most bizarre afternoon I've had in a while.

MrsNutella · 17/01/2017 19:29

Fid where in the south are you? I'm in the north, plenty of marzipan around here. I know there are an extra billion variations of Haribo in Germany. And I love near a Bahlsen outlet.... in case i ever need to overdose on biscuits Grin

mrsBeverleygoldberg · 17/01/2017 19:33

Hello Zombie. So after the fiasco with lost wellies, I took the dog for a walk in the big wellies. It was all going well. He'd not lost his ball looking for cats, he'd gone in the pond to get rid of most of the mud. We're just about to leave the field and he goes the other side of the fence to me and rolls in you know what! I'm shrieking 'Nooooo!' And he stops for a second then makes the most of it while I scrabble over.
He's so cute, it's hard to stay mad!
I hope you are feeling a bit better today.

Zombie has her hospital bed so the Phalanx had a sleep over.
Fiderer · 17/01/2017 19:45

MrsN have PMed you.

UnbornMortificado · 17/01/2017 20:49

Hope today has been better Z Flowers

Mrs your boy looks like he's smiling, he's lush.

MrsMozart · 17/01/2017 21:38

Hello sweet Zombie.

I've been awol, but am back. Anyhoo, very sorry to read that things are more than a bit poo. If I knew where the heck you are I'd wobble my way round there, bags full of goodies, with a full and heartfelt promise not to sing (as I like you), and enough company to keep you going for a good week and a half.

The hospice sounds like a grand idea. Have a bit of pampering and other people doing the do and you doing the lying around and looking glamerous. Excellent plan indeed.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 17/01/2017 21:41

Anyone else watching Steve the choreographer putting a dance together in Skipton.
Including farmers and market stall holders, and anyone one else he can rope in.
It's fantastic.
I know it's going to make me cry, in a really good way Wine

Susiesoap7 · 17/01/2017 22:04

BBB are you in Yorkshire? I love skipton , I'm Yorkshire born n bred 🌝

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 17/01/2017 22:09

MrsB that is one deeply beautiful dog.

I read here about the antidote to the you know what smell but can't remember what it is... toothpaste? Vinegar?

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 17/01/2017 22:12

Haha, no Susie, on the South Coast.

Fab programme, did you watch?

cozietoesie · 17/01/2017 22:28

I recall visiting in a hospice once and it came to supper time. The person who was taking the orders turned to me and asked me what I wanted. Upon me querying 'Me?', she grinned and said 'We're here for everyone'.

Great places. I'm sure you'll enjoy the break, Zombie. Smile

OhTheRoses · 17/01/2017 22:44

That's a lovely story cozietoes.

Good news about Bathslad

How's ratty Did?

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 17/01/2017 23:33

Oh, just spent ages trying to work that out Roses, you meant Fid!

Thought you'd got confused with another thread about a baby mouse/rat/squirrel/hedgehog!

The only exotic sweet incident I remember was in India at a station, 1974, getting a bit carried away had the munchies with some spicy little boiled milk balls.
An Indian man very apologetically told me that I shouldn't eat too many,
I wish he'd told me 5 minutes earlier Shock
