They did a very good job of tidying up after themselves. Who knows what they will get up to next though? Why not join us and find out?

My Hospice nurse has just rung. She's coming to see me on Wednesday afternoon. We will review all my options then. I may be admitted to the hospice for a week and a bit so they can do a full review, try to get my pain relief stabalised and probably arrange more in-home care so I have help with preparing meals.

Yay for nurses and for hospices.

Sounds like a bit of respite care might be really helpful for you Zombie.
I hope your one has as big a drinks trolley for night caps as our local one does!

Somerville · 16/01/2017 11:32

I was about to apologise for typing respite, since it'll be you going in for you, rather than to give a carer a little break.
But now I'm thinking... you're your own carer at the moment. And it will give you a break from looking after yourself. Someone can do all of that for you, and you can relax. Hope it works out, if it is what you decide will be best for you.

UnbornMortificado · 16/01/2017 11:52

Zombie I'm so sorry your not well Flowers

The hospice stay will hopefully (if you decide to go) get your pain under control and give you a bit of a break.

Massive (gentle hugs) and lots of love to you 💗

SleepingCitySidewalk · 16/01/2017 12:00

Zombie I NC and have only rarely posted but always read and think of you. My BF (best friend not boyfriend Grin) has a life limiting condition and stays in a hospice (for pain relief mainly) every so often. She absolutely loves it and refers to it as a great hotel with fab drugs Wink. She found the word hospice, and associated thoughts, terrifying at first but now it has very positive associations for her and I hope it's the same for you Flowers

PS I'm sure you may have found this out, but if your cats are anything like mine, they love the inside of the electric bed too Hmm so I have learnt to be careful not to lower mine totally flat without checking...

DramaAlpaca · 16/01/2017 12:28

Zombie sorry you're not feeling well Flowers

saffronwblue · 16/01/2017 12:40

Z it might be nice to get some cosseting in the hospice, so you can save your strength.

HerRoyalFattyness · 16/01/2017 12:50

zombie I'm sorry you're not well. Perhaps a stay in hospice will do you some good Flowers

Susiesoap7 · 16/01/2017 12:57

Sorry you are feeling lousy zombie maybe a bit of fresh air this afternoon might cheer you, though it's pouring down here so I imagine it is by you, I don't think we are too far apart but I can't drive otherwise I would be over like a shot. Sending you love and lots of hugs xx 🌸🌺🌸🌺

Marcipex · 16/01/2017 13:07

Sorry you're feeling low Zombie.Flowers
I wish I could pop round but I'm in Devon. Which is quite nice, but a pity it's amphibious, as Lord Byron said. (Well, I think it was him)

Allalonenow · 16/01/2017 13:26

Zombie Sorry that you are a low ebb just now, some time being cared for by kindly people could be just what you need.
Thanks and maybe a bit of Cake if you are well enough.

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 16/01/2017 13:27

Zombie. I hope the trip out this afternoon goes OK. I also hope the weather there is better than here, it's wet & windy. I seem to remember from a thread long ago where you went on a late night rescue mission & had us all worried, but firmly put us in our place! that you live much further north than me? I'm down south near Reading/Basingstoke. If I've misremembered let me know, I'll happily come & make tea, fuss the moggies & steal your blanket chew your ear off.

I have another friend who lives alone & goes into the hospice for a little break, she was dreading it the first time, but now like Sleeping's friend she says it's like a fabulous B&B with amazing drugs 😁

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 16/01/2017 13:35

I wish we could pop round too. I might not bring the Sulky Teenager but DD2 is being just lovely these days. She would make you laugh (proverbial class clown), make cupcakes for you, and then proceed to eat most of them. I love that age she is at right now. They both still ask about you all the time.

((((((((Hugs))))))))

AcrossthePond55 · 16/01/2017 13:53

Oh Zombie, I'm so sorry you are feeling down and unwell. Do go in to hospice if they advise it. It will be easier to work on pain control if they can watch you 24/7 for a bit.

Joining the Phalanx in parking a spiritual bum cheek on the edge of your new bed to keep you virtual company. Soon there will be so many of us there in spirit that you'll begin to feel crowded out!

UnbornMortificado · 16/01/2017 14:20

Zombie if you ever need some RL help or even company I'm pretty sure I'm actually within driving distance.

I make lovely cuppa's although that is pretty much the extent of my talents ☕️

Really hope you feel better soon.

bookbook · 16/01/2017 14:27

oh Zombie - loneliness allied to pain is the worst thing.
I am send you virtual hugs, and will be thinking of you when I pick up my knitting to make the squares.
Hopefully, some rest , good pain relief and company will help you through this Flowers

Mysillydog · 16/01/2017 16:22

Delurking to send you love, tea and fairy dust.

You are right, cancer is a lonely road to travel and is generally just totally crap. Hopefully a short stay in the hospice will get you sorted for drugs. A bit late, but I love your Woolly Hug. I am in total awe of the clever crafty types who can put these together because I struggle sewing on buttons.

SpiralArchitect · 16/01/2017 16:28

Zombie, delurking again to say I'm sorry to hear you've had a rubbish few days. Getting your pain relief stabilised via the hospice sounds like a good idea.

iklboo · 16/01/2017 17:15

Sorry you've had a bad few days Zombie. I wish I lived closer or could drive. Please do consider a few days in the hospice. They can give you the TLC you need - and some company for a bit. Take the greatest of care.

IamtheZombie · 16/01/2017 17:16

I'm utterly shattered but at least I was able to complete my errands.

Hoping I have nothing more than a bit of a sore arm from the flu jab. Hospice nurse had been in touch re morphine patch strength and some steroids to stimulate my appetite. One of the doctors came in to see me and we got it all sorted so I was able to collect those along with the huge bag of repeat subscription meds.

I then managed a very show shuffle around Tuffins before coming home. That's me done for the day (if not for the week).

I have a phone call in to the local cattery. They're very good and the lady who runs it adores the ZombieCats. I'm going to ask her to collect them as soon as she can. That frees me up for a hospice admission.

Tinkerbelle has momentarily abandoned the bed so I think I shall slip into it for a nap while I can.

Mummylin · 16/01/2017 17:23

I do hope that your hospice visit is arranged for you soon. It must be such a drag to bother to get yourself meals when you feel like shit. At least whilst you are there your meals etc will all be on tap for you, and this will hopefully make you a bit stronger too.
You need a bit of looking after Zombie, there comes a time when we all need help of some sort. Take care and enjoy your nap.

fruitbats · 16/01/2017 17:25

Sending you love and warm wishes Z

StealthPolarBear · 16/01/2017 17:35

Hope a hospice admission builds your strength up and gives you time to get back on track x

Marcipex · 16/01/2017 17:36

I have no idea what a tuffins is. I'm imagining a giant marshmallow with Z shuffling around it. Or a giant tea cake.

Marcipex · 16/01/2017 17:36

Oh no that's tunnocks. Sorry.
