Okay, squirt is nearly eight months old and I am absolutely in love with him. However, I have started getting incredibly strong feelings towards wanting another baby - although a part of me thinks I couldn't share myself with another - what is my body doing to my brain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd like to know if other first time moms have experienced being unimaginably broody and when do you know if you are ready to introduce another little lun into your lives?

i dont think u ever really no i was broody with in a month of having dd1 and pregnant with dd2 when dd1 was five months it really good hard work but worth it
i didnt think i could ever love any one as much as dd1 but i love dd2 just as much

Hi, I got really borrdy when dd1 was 6 months and started trying for another one. Thank god though it didnt happen till dd was 16 months old as I have PCOS. Was hard work having them so close together but it was worth it, however, they are 6 and 4 now and have found myself incredibly broody yet again. Oh no!!!!

nikkie · 18/02/2007 19:52

I was very broody after dd1 and got preg when she was 13m it was a good gap for us though I should have chosen a better father!
I am always broody now though

I think it's because at 6 months you can see your little baby growing up ... and you want that feeling of absolute dependency all over again!

deaconblue · 18/02/2007 20:53

Me too, me too. Ds is 10 months next week and am so keen to start trying for number two even though I'm knackered, still haven't got him sorted in a very good routine and still have ten tonnes of pork lurking around my middle.

OttergavebirthonValentines · 18/02/2007 20:57

with you on the pork shopping bags also my arms have turned to hams!

Anyone got post baby cankles too??? All this should put us off our broodiness Emstomot

dd is 4, ds1 is 2.10 and ds2 is 21 weeks and iam very broody, keep trying to put it to the back of my mind. Dh does not want anymore

When i was having ds1 i use to go into dd room at night when she was sleeping and cry i was convinced i could never love another child has much as i loved her and when i had ds everything just fell into place

I think only you know when the time is right for another one.

I am broody all the time, just all the time.

hopeless....

Maybe its a hormonal thing, it doesn't help that my closest friend has just had a baby and my other close friend is pregnant - I have PCOS as well, and our little squirt was a complete surprise but a welcome one - I think now that I have all these new skills, I would like to use them again! I think part of it is because he is growing up so fast, its such a whirl wind - not sure I will start again until he is abit older though - I think it is amazing to put yourself through pregnancy and those terrifying first six weeks whilst looking after a still small baby!
Thanks for the feedback though, I guess we will see what happens!

Must add, it is worse when I am shopping for baby clothes, because there is a marked difference between 0-9 month clothes and 9 months plus, its like the shops are telling you, your baby is not a baby any more!

Kseaj - I have cried with my little one too! - At first when he was tiny, I used to say, if anything is going to happen to him, I would bargain me for it. Then I used to get upset thinking what he would do without me, because no one else, not even his daddy could possibly love him as much as me - then I would shake myself back to a normal state of mind and concentrate on looking after the both of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a strange feeling, motherhood.
