OMG

First period since c-section! Clots the size of golf balls, waking every hour to change saturated pads, can't stand up without feeling like Niagara Falls is happening in my pants!

Not sure how much is too much? Can't remember it being this bad last time . If I went to the doctors/hospital would they even do anything?

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/11/2016 10:34

A c section is major surgery. Any complications like severe heavy bleeding need to be checked out. You could very quickly go from feeling fine to feeling too weak to act. It's so important to keep yourself well with a small baby to care for.

ALemonyPea · 17/11/2016 10:35

My periods are excessively heavy the first two days, I change a pad and tampon every hour, sometimes more, so it can be a regular period for some.

However, as you've just had a c section and it's not your norm, I'd call your GP for an emergency appointment or go to a walk in centre.

Hope you're ok Flowers

thingsthatgoflumpinthenight · 17/11/2016 10:45

Don't wait an hour! I read the other thread and that poor woman nearly died!

Call them now.

RomanticWalksToTheFridge · 17/11/2016 10:46

Call now, go now, FGS.

KitKat1985 · 17/11/2016 10:49

when did you have your C-section Fenced?

Regardless I second PP saying phoning 111 for advice. Golf ball size clots are definitely not normal.

happydays00 · 17/11/2016 10:49

Call now OP! I read the other thread too and it was terrifying how quickly everything happened: one minute she felt fine, the next she was unconscious (luckily in the back of an ambulance).

Please call, it may well settle but just not worth the risk Flowers

Diamogs · 17/11/2016 10:52

Seriously OP call now - the OP of the other thread was told by the hospital that if she had gone to bed as intended she would never have woken up.

thefirstpenguin · 17/11/2016 10:54

A lemony pea - me too, at least a pad an hour for the first 2 days at least, with clots but no where near golfball sized. Just commenting because it's almost worrying to see so many posts saying it's not normal. It is normal for me and lemony pea gave me a bit of assurance that it's not just me.

But it's not normal for you OP so I'm with everyone else - in your situation i would seek medical advice/ help.

SplodgeBear1988 · 17/11/2016 10:54

PLEASE CALL 999 NOW! A pad an hour and feeling like niagra falls when you stand up is a medical emergency. Do not wait, as previously said the other lady on the thread a week ago said she could have just have gone back to bed and gone to her GPs in the morning but it was made clear to her by the consultant in A and E that if she had done that she wouldn't be here!

Jackiebrambles · 17/11/2016 10:56

Call 111 now OP. Right now. The poster on the other thread felt fine, until she didn't. As you are post op lots of stuff could be happening, just call NOW.

Fenced · 17/11/2016 11:06

But I had a scan about a month ago and my womb looked ok (had antibiotics as well)

I WILL ring someone if it doesn't settle. But it does seem better within the last hour.

Porkswordcallingdannyboy · 17/11/2016 11:12

Fence, me and others are highlighting the very unusual amount of bleeding you are having. Current symptoms may not reflect what is happening internally. Please act now. We may genuinely save your life. You are not bothering anyone by calling 999, but please let someone else make that decision, not you.
If all is then fine, all is well. But this is a potential MEDICAL EMERGENCY.

Littleballerina · 17/11/2016 11:13

A month ago it may have been fine. Now it may not.
Why are you so hesitant to call 111 even for advice?

Redglitter · 17/11/2016 11:16

You came on here for advice. The responses are absolutely unanimous why are you so reluctant to phone 111

NameChange30 · 17/11/2016 11:17

Why bother asking for advice if you're going to ignore it?!

You need to call 111 ASAP as everyone has said.

And I think they might tell you to go to A&E.

BuggerOffDailyMirror · 17/11/2016 11:18

OP, I'm the lady everyone keeps referring to who ended up nearly popping my clogs with similar symptoms last week.

I'm at home now recovering but for the love of god please call NOW. Let the professionals decide whether it's indeed an emergency or not. If I hadn't called on the advice of Mumsnet I'd be dead. It's that simple and I bloody WISH the pissing Daily Mirror hadn't picked up my thread so I could have linked it for you (had to have it deleted) Angry

I'm actually crying typing this because it's brought it all back, PLEASE CALL.

I will wait an hour and see if it calms down, if not, will call someone!

Your hour's up.

You need to call now.

BuggerOffDailyMirror · 17/11/2016 11:25

Argh I can't leave this alone now, I'm going to have to tell you what happened.

I was bleeding through a tampon, a pad and my clothes in an hour.
I was feeling a bit run down, looked like death but really just felt a bit "off", nothing too bad.
Decided to post on Mumsnet and explained the amount of bleeding.
First few responses were call NHS direct, so I did.
It's a bit of a blur from there but basically they sent out a first responder to me (apparently I was slurring my words at this point).
First responder called an ambulance pretty much immediately.
Ambulance arrived, I got in and then about 10 mins later I was unconcious at serious risk of cardiac arrest.
I spent 4 days near enough in hospital.
I lost 30% of my overall blood volume and ended up with a transfusion. If I had passed out at home alone or gone to bed and ignored it, I would have bled out to a point where my blood pressure was so low my heart would have stopped.

This was all due to some random tissue lodged around my cervix which became infected.

I'm actually feeling panicked in my chest just reading your post because it's so ridiculously similar to my situation. Please call, you could be the me that didn't call.

Fenced · 17/11/2016 11:26

Honestly, I thought everyone would say it was normal!
It has settled a bit and I do feel fine. Section was 3 months ago.

Do it now

RomanticWalksToTheFridge · 17/11/2016 11:28

Where is the actual harm in calling NHS direct though or calling your GP?

No harm. And they can reassure you if need be. Why not try that at least.

Fenced · 17/11/2016 11:28

Buggeroff - omg :-(

How soon after your baby did this happen? I'm 3 mo pp. and I'm not bleeding anywhere as much as you were!
