I can't begin to tell you how happy i was when the parcell arrived this morning. It was so stonishingly kind of you all to have helped to knit me a blanket. As luck would have it, it arrived when I had hit a very low patch, so if gave me the lift that I needed.

You are all so kind and I cannot think you enought, in particular those people who even learned to knit to take part.

The money for Macmillan was also wonderful, and we will pass it on to Lynn our Macmillan nurse when we see her later this week.

I'm speachless, i simply don't know what to say, and 'thank you' seem so trivial and doesn't even begin to cover what I am feeling ATM

with much love

JanH · 12/02/2007 22:06

Hi Marina! I'm couldn't be less of a knitter really but have a very knitty MIL who I'm sure would be happy to start me off on a nice plain square (and then stop me before it turned into a scarf )

What a lovely blanket

I wasn't involved - I am not a knitter - but just want to say how nice it is.

Marina · 13/02/2007 08:24

Yes I did Gillian they should be there somewhere!
Are you up for more projects - we have a MotherList going

Marina · 13/02/2007 08:25

Excellent JanH. SueW will testify this is how you get sucked in though!

Aviatrix, do CAT me if you want to go on the heads-up list for more blankets then

Marina · 13/02/2007 08:26

We don't take any of that robot knitting stuff though missy Shall I stick you on the list?

Budababe · 13/02/2007 08:41

What a lovely idea! Didn't know it was going on but a great idea and the blanket looks great.

Put me down for the list of knitters please! fionasimonds at hotmail dot com

bundle · 13/02/2007 11:54

it's quite nice seeing your squares in situ and there is something particularly heartwarming about the whole blanket thing on MN, a real community effort (cheeeeesy)

mb - arabica blubbed too (I joined her, it would have been rude not to) when I handed over her MN blanky

Fab blanket, well done everyone!

franke · 13/02/2007 13:19

Tigermoth and everyone else who has said that they weren't involved - you were. This blanket was made by a few mumsnetters but was sent on behalf of all mumsnetters who have been touched by mb's current situation and wanted to send good wishes. That's how I saw it anyway

Tamum · 13/02/2007 13:39

Lovely post, franke

Jura- what a worry, eh? I knitted a panel of DNA cable for one of dh's friends birthday and dh was moved to point out that I could surely add a methyl group on to it as dh and the friend both work on methylated DNA. Yes, right dear.

Wow, another fabbity-fab blanket! Can I be added to the list of 'KnitWits' as I can always make squares when I'm in the UK.

Marina · 13/02/2007 19:16

Lovely post franke, and very true
OK, have either CATed or added everyone on here who has requested to be added to the MotherList Thanks!

Marina · 13/02/2007 19:17

Jura, if I could mutate to have two heads, six arms and eyes in the back of both heads this half-term, my life would be magically transformed

I'm not completely convinced that you can replicate DNA with a ribosome, even a knitted one, but it's an interesting thought

It is funny how many biologist knitters there are. One of my schoolfriends made me a toy chlamydomonas out of felt and a clear plastic bag once, red eye spot, nucleus and all. I was very touched.
