I can't begin to tell you how happy i was when the parcell arrived this morning. It was so stonishingly kind of you all to have helped to knit me a blanket. As luck would have it, it arrived when I had hit a very low patch, so if gave me the lift that I needed.

You are all so kind and I cannot think you enought, in particular those people who even learned to knit to take part.

The money for Macmillan was also wonderful, and we will pass it on to Lynn our Macmillan nurse when we see her later this week.

I'm speachless, i simply don't know what to say, and 'thank you' seem so trivial and doesn't even begin to cover what I am feeling ATM

with much love

Oh so glad you like it mb

I really enjoyed knitting for it (though my squares were very plain compared to some of the fancy stitches!). I kept imagining you and Mr mb snuggling up together under it. Hope it brings you many hours of pleasure. Whenever you need a hug, you can just reach for the blanket and imagine MN giving you a big cuddle

Fillyjonk · 12/02/2007 18:25

am now that people actually learnt to knit for it while I didn't even manage to post a fecking envelope

mb if 4 squares of unravelled kinky cotton would in any way enhance your life then do say...

Tamum · 12/02/2007 18:30

Look at it another way though filly, that's extra MNers we've reeled in for our knitting threads....

itsmeNDP · 12/02/2007 18:42

I can't knit for toffee, my contribution (had I have made one) would have been known as the 'dog's dinner square', but it is lovely to see that you have been the recipient of one of these fabbo MN blankets.

I'm glad it raised a smile, here's hoping you and DH get to enjoy many more nights cosied up together beneath it.

well that was my intention all along, tamum

of course

I am very sorry though, god I am a numptie

I DID manage to sew the fecking martian too, if marina is around. though I am not sure anyone except me would benefit from seeing it, tbh.

marthamoo · 12/02/2007 19:05

I did say I'd knit a square but I am really very bad at knitting - it would have come out as a triangle. Sorry, mb - but I'm glad you like it

Miaou · 12/02/2007 19:19

Could I make a suggestion? (Probably one for Marina/Tamum to consider). How about creating a list of potential knitters and their email addresses so that if we want to make another blanket on the sly we will get lots of people involved?

(In lieu of creating more work I will offer myself as a maker-upper-helper of said blankets if Tamum will have me )

Miaou · 12/02/2007 19:20

maybe I should have emailed you with that thought rather than asking for public commitment - sorry - mouth in gear before brain

Marina · 12/02/2007 19:22

I think that is a super idea Miaou and given that I am currently hatching a Cunning Plan for a new blanket, now might be the time to make that list
Am waiting for feedback from a third party before I take it further though!

Tamum · 12/02/2007 19:22

Well of course I will Miaou Marina did have a list that we used, but it's looking as though it was less comprehensive than we thought. It does need to be something like that though, it doesn't half ruin the surprise if everyone is chatting about it on here!

Marina · 12/02/2007 19:23

My turn to post first and think after...Tamum knows about the Cunning Plan, as per usual

Tamum · 12/02/2007 19:24

Oh hello Marina Actually, the new plan one probably could be discussed quite openly, couldn't it? Once there's a proper go-ahead? And then people who respond to that call could go on the master list mwah hah hah.

Marina · 12/02/2007 19:24

My problem Tamum is I have an idiosyncratic e-mail management system so some addresses in some places, some in others. My fault entirely.
I think I can sort it out properly once and for all if we think this is a goer, which we seem to do...

Marina · 12/02/2007 19:25

Indeed. We could harvest the addresses, bwahahahahaha

Tamum · 12/02/2007 19:25

I'm the same Marina. It's not easy to keep track unless you've planned to do so in advance, really.

please put me on the list of potential knitters for the next blanket. I'm going to start knitting again, very calming and less fattening than the second glass of wine.

Today was tough, for no reason other than dd is being a typical 10 year old atm, and it is just more than I can cope with , on top of everything else.

Add in sixthform course work, light blue touchpaper and retire immediatly

So it came at the perfect moment. I was totaly overwhelmed, and blubbed like a baby!

Tamum · 12/02/2007 19:47

Well, I'm just so glad we got the timing right, but very sorry you've had a hard day. Good for you for starting knitting again, we had to ensnare you somehow

Blandmum · 12/02/2007 19:49

My head of department has been very, very kind to me, and so understanding. She is an uber biochemist. So I think that a DNA scarf is in order!
