It's +44. The + bit is country-specific but usually 00 IIRC.

It's 00 44 or + 44 wherever you are calling from - isn't it? Have just noticed your 011 bit from the US - I thought all international codes began with either 00 or +. Am confused now!

I thought that's what it was from the US, but I've been home for 2 years and it's all a blurry memory. I just had a feeling the bit before 44 varies from country to country as gingernut says, and I want to put the number in ds's bag when he goes away next week (for the first time ever, SOB) so he can phone me at least once.
