Tried vinegar for cleaning - bathroom stinks! Why?

Have been inspired by Houses Behaving Badly and used vinegar and water to clean gold taps - they are now very shiny but the bathroom stinks of vinegar.

Did I use the wrong kind of vinegar? It was white malt vinegar mixed 50/50 with water in a spray bottle. Only kind I had. Tried to find white vinegar in shop but all brands said malt.

Any tip from someone? Can't stand the stench.

They all smell, sorry.

Oh well, I think I'll stick to fragranced expensive cleaners

can you slice a lemon or put a small dish of juice out and close the door ?

Have put in an airfreshener to no avail. Kids refusing to go it. Mind you, that will keep it clean
