HELP!! DID YOU GET MARRIED ABROAD?

Did you have to register the marriage somewhere in the UK when you got back. If so where and how?

All the info I received seem to tell me that we do not... but that seems quite strange to me.

thanks for your help in advance.

We married abroad and I was also told there was no ned to register it in the UK which I found really odd.

There is a website called marryabroad.co.uk that goes through all the legals of this.

oranges I did check the website but they tell you all the legal requirements for when you get married there but nothing for when you get back.

Maybe you really do not need to do anything else.

We married abroad in 1995 - have never had to prove it to anyone in the UK. As long as you follow the proper procedures for whatever country you marry in and get the right documentation that's all you need to do. Strange but true.

I do think nothing more needs to be done. Britain does recognise foreign marriages.

we got married in st lucia and we had to register it in the Uk afterwards to make it legal. It all depends on the destination etc.

I got married on safari in Kenya. Our marriage was recognised in the UK - many are, but not all so you must check beforehand - so we need do anything to register it on our return.

I married in Dominican Republic and didn't have to register the marraige here.
My wedding certificate was issued in Spanish so I had to pay for a translated version so I could get my passport changed to my married name.
