Think it varies a lot but averages a few weeks. Could you ring the council and ask them how long they usually take to process ?

Can be done in a few days for a little extra money. Certainly shouldn't take more than a week.

Ours took one day! Don't ask me how... they can do them on the Internet, sometimes, I think. DH is all over-excited thinking this means that we will exchange next week (SIGH ).

If everything hinges on this particular search, you could ask your solicitor to do a personal search (instant provided said solicitor gets off his bum straightaway ). It will cost extra, but would be worth it if things could then proceed.

Alternatively ask your solicitor to contact the local authority and chase. The searches department are usually quite accommodating.
