Would you bother complaining?

Belong to a catalogue. Have done for years and years.

In November a charge of £4.36 appeared on my account. I queried it. It was an insurance policy that had been put on in error. The lady corrected it for me and said I would not be charged and brought my account back to £0.00

This morning I receive my statement. £4.36 still owing.

I rang to query it. Its this bloody insurance policy again. I explained what had happened in November. She cut me short and did not let me finish my explanation. When I asked her if I could finish my sentence. She cut me short again and asked if I wanted to pay the outstanding amount by using my commission that I had earned. I said that I did not as I was not going to pay the outstanding amount due to the explanation that I had alread tried to give. She said that she 'was not willing to discuss the matter further with me'

I asked her if she could transfer me to someone who would discuss the matter with me. She refused. I asked again if I could speak to a Manager or Supervisor. She again, refused to transfer me and told me that I would have to write in. Our conversation ceased.

I immediately re-dialed. Spoke to someone else, who immediately sorted the problem out for me, cancelled this insurance policy and brought my account to £0.00

So, I am happy that my account is now £0.00 but I AM NOT HAPPY with the way the first woman spoke to me.

Should I bother complaining? Feel like I want to but don't know if I am just being 'picky' as the situation of my account is now resolved.

Yes. Bossy horrible old cow (the woman on the phone obviously, not you )

WigWamBam · 29/01/2007 19:22

I'd complain. You don't have to put up with rudeness, and you should always have the option of speaking to a manager. Did you take her name?

themoon66 · 29/01/2007 19:24

I've given up having any dealings with catalogues at all due to women like that on the other end of the phone... complain.

poppiesinaline · 29/01/2007 19:26

no, unfortunately I didnt take her name but when I spoke to the 2nd woman I told her about it (I took her name but they are not allowed to give out surnames ) she told me that they all have 'advisor numbers' and her advisor number would appear on my account when she logged my call. She checked for me and it has appeared so they would be able to trace her.

I so nearly cancelled my account. I would, but I am a size 6 - 8 and very few catalogues do that size.

apparently, complaints have got to be made in writing . Thats why I don't know if I can be bothered, but that woman has made me so cross I don't want her to get away with it. Just wanted to check if I was being petty iyswim.

paulaplumpbottom · 29/01/2007 20:56

Its not resolved you are still mad. Complain.

mollymawk · 29/01/2007 21:00

You are not being petty. Customer service and politeness are very important (I think).

fizzbuzz · 29/01/2007 21:21

Complain, although I agree with The Moon. I am sick of snots having a go at me on catalogue phone lines. The only one I will deal with now is Next, who are very polite and helpful.

La Redoute are the latest one to snot me out

moondog · 29/01/2007 21:38

Yes complain.
I always do. (Have just written letters to Tesco and Morrisons)
You should get a grovelling apology and some money credited to your acount.

I also always flag up good service which is often rewarded to.
Staples sent me £15 worth of vouchers becasue i wrote in to tell tham about a charming girl who served me.

I think catalogue people are one on their own tbh, they must be trained by rotweillers.
