Who hates me up there?

Every time I make plans to do something it always gets scuppered!

We are off to Florida a week on Thursday so I decided to take 17 yr old DS1 (who is off school due to water supply problems after sitting his highers) to a very large shopping centre where we would get some cheap holiday clothes to start us off on holiday and then have lunch.

DD1 (no.4 child) developed a rash last night that looks suspiciously like shingles this morning. Phoned for a GP appointment so that I can get her antiviral treatment if that is the case. Receptionist said to bring her down tomorrow. I think not!!

Have subsequently got appointment for 12.20 today.

So now I am sitting still in my nightie, feeling that nothing goes my way.

Poor dd.....

Sorry you're having a rough time, mears. You'll still be able to go on your holiday, won't you?

Can you take DS out later on and have tea out instead of lunch?

mears · 08/06/2004 11:14

Bl**dy hope so Tissy. Don't think it will be a problem to anyone else - just hope that if it is shingles, dd doesn't end up getting pain from where the rash has been. I know there is an outside chance that someone who hasn't had chickenpox could catch it from shingles but I think they would need to be in contact with the vescicles themselves.

hope your daughter gets better soon mears and you enjoy your holiday

Thomcat · 08/06/2004 11:37

I'm sure you'll still be able to go on your holiday and I'm sure you'll have a lovely time. At least you can afford to go on a lovely family holiday.
Hope you DD will be fine again soon and she is restored to her normal healthy happy self again soon.

mears · 08/06/2004 11:44

Don't know about affording it Thomcat. Credit cards are wonderful things
It is probably the least sensible thing to be doing but I think this will probably be our last holiday away as a family - don't know what DS1 will be doing next year. We also decided that life is too short after DS's friend was diagnosed with cancer. Decided there is no point not going for it

mears how is your ds's friend doing atm?

mears · 08/06/2004 11:49

Brilliant. His body scan after his chemo fnished was clear and he got his long line (for treatment removed yesterday). He will now have 3 monthly reviews. He is also having physio to build up the muscle in his leg but he hardly even has a limp. He can't wait for his hair to return...

Absolutley, you have to go for it, life is too short. Just don't think anyone up ther hates you that's all. Enjoy your well deserved holiday.

What are your plans while you're in Florida anyway, is it the Disney world/land thing. Can't wait till the day I can take Lottie to places like that. I've never been myself so we can all enh=joy it together for the first time.

Well have got back from shopping after getting lost numerous times trying to get to a specific Asda. Have been through the Clyde tunnel 4 times and I didn't need to go anywhere near there!

DD definately has shingles so GP has given her antiviral medication because we are going to Florida in 89 days.

Thomcat - we are going to do the Disney parks and all that. The kids are really excited about it all. We have hired a villa 5 mins from Disney with a heated pool and jaccusi. Can't wait

Sounds wonderful Mears, you lucky things.

BTW - I've had shingles so sympathies to your DD. Hope she's much better v soon. I was given that cream you put on coldsores for the red potty rings up my legs when i had it and that really helped.
