Our ancient laptop is running out of memory. Can I buy more online? Can anyone recommend a way to do this?

Not sure if you can for lap tops, do you have regular clean ups and clear outs to keep it running lean?

ram or hard drive?

DH Sells memory works for a computer firm - have you got details of old memory and what you want to upgrade too.
Can you let you know what price you should pay approx and whats best to get

No idea what the old memory is I'm afraid - are there different types? The PC is a Dell inspriron 2650 laptop.

What is the difference between ram and hard drive memory?

As you can tell, I'm no techie .

i let him know what laptop it is he will prop know what memory is in it i'll email him at work and get back to you

dell laptops are usually easy to upgrade.

Ram is the memory that the computer uses to work, so the speed of the computer depends on how much ram.

The hard drive is used for storage of everything, so if you are running out of storage space you need more hard drive space.

Doesn't know off the top of his head what memory it will need but you can do a search on the dell website and it should tell you the memory that will fit

He said ebay is the best place to get it when you know what you need

check in the manual - it should tell you what the memory is - either that or look inside and write down what it has. Worth checking in the manual though - it will tell you what combinations and the maximum you can use (eg usually if you have 2 cards they have to be the same size)

apparently :

They are PC2100 soDIMMs; the best way to check the memory configuration is to open the hatch at the bottom of the case and take a look. It could be a single soDIMM, or it may be a pair of 128s.

The maximum amount of memory supported on this system is 512 MB.
