Home-made play-doh anyone?

Has anyone a recipe for making play-doh? We go to an arts workshop where there is always home-made play-doh and it feels and smells lovely.

1 cup water, 1 cup plain flour, 2 tbsp cream of tartar, 1/2 cup salt, 1 tbsp cooking oil, plus food colouring in a pan. Stir over low heat until makes a dough. (Doesn't take long - c. 1-2 mins) Cool. It keeps well in airtight box, but keeps even longer if kept in fridge, if you've room!

We add glitter too,but then I have 2 v. pink and sparkly dds!!

Here's one which worked really well and lasts for ages in the fridge.
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon of oil
1 cup of water
Mix to form a smooth paste. Put it in a saucepan and cook slowly until the dough comes away from the side of the pan and forms a ball. When it is cool enough, take the dough out of the pan and knead for 3-4 minutes.
I put some green ink in and it worked a treat. You might need to alter the amount of water, I can't remember now.

Oh yeah glitter - brilliant effects. Black play dough with glitter is wonderful.

DD had a lovely birthday present in January of four different colours of home made play dough with four cutters and a rolling pin in a tupperware bowl and play dough still going strong. Thought it was a really thoughtful gift. Not got round to doing it myself yet, but love the idea of glitter play dough. Will give that a go.

A teacher friend of mine makes hers in the microwave, but sorry can't remember how long it cooks for - one for the experimental amongst you. I think she uses the receipe below though.

Black sparkly PD sounds great.

You can also add uncooked rice or sand to give a lovely texture experience!!!
