a fella in DH work who is on his own with 2 children said he does 1 wash a week thats it

I feel like with my family of 4, I am doing a wash nearly every day and if I don't do one for a couple of days, like yesterday, I ended up doing 3!!!!

One of my DD's has SN so does tend to have a clean uniform every day as she gets her yogurt down her clothes!!! Whereas her sister can get away with wearing her cardy/skirt twice

How many washes do you think you do each week

2 yesterday sunday and one tis morning, and hopefully none now til wednesday!
but i could just as easily do one every day. i hate a build up of dirty laundry.

i am lucky and have a nindoor drying space for hanging them so they literally go from machine to the horse indoors. and a quick tumble to soften up .

i love washing clothes

i hate ironing them.

No need for it to kick off at all

It is just a thread I started asking a simple question as I was interested to see if people did as much washing as me

No arguing so far and there doesn't need to be

can't argue over washing surely

5 of us. 6 washes a week. But I don't change all the of kids's uniforms everyday and non-underwear clothes get put back in their drawers unless obviously dirty. I don't wash clothes just because they've been worn once, only when they need it.

6, 7, 8 or 9 loads per week for our family of 4 - no nappies now (bliss).

Clean pjs every night?
clean pjs every night?
clean pjs every night?

I have read some shocking things on Mumsnet over the years and this has to be one of the most astonishing of all .

OrmIrian · 29/01/2007 14:12

Just read some more earlier responses and can only assume we are disgusting filthy pigs or that we have a much bigger washing machine than most people.

Hoping it's the latter.

it sounds about normal to me how many washes you do!

I am absolutely amazed at how many washes some of you do! I can't understand what you are washing (can understand the nappies). The poor environment - 3 a day?!

I reckon we do 4 a week. We are a family of 4.

Boring, but I do a wash most days. I don't wash all the uniform every day, but most days it needs it - both my children are messy eaters and DS2's trousers get very smelly. They have pyjamas for up to a week, depending on how much breakfast they get on them.

As well as clothes we have bathroom towels, bedlinen, karate and sports clothes and swimming stuff (twice a week for the boys, once a week for DH).

Calm me down. I am thinking of getting new wash mach and dryer.
Was thinking of American Admiral Capacity plus. Its got a 10.1KG load!!
I shouldnt really get this excited should I...help?? ps has any one got tech exp of these machines?

MrsSpoon · 30/01/2007 23:40

I feel the need to justify my loads.

I have a older machine with a small drum (not sure of the capacity). I generally do two loads of towels a week, one boil wash load of cloths/cleaning stuff, our bed and two single beds once a week (three loads), then often a wet bed just to keep me on my toes, I work out three times a week and DH works out twice a week (don't like to leave these clothes lying for any length of time, they smell), DS2 has swimming, DS1 has basketball so kit needs washed for both of these activities, DS1 generally has one change of School uniform midweek and two or three changes of out of School clothes depending on what we are doing, DS2 still needs his clothes changing every day as he is messy, sometimes twice a day if we are going out somewhere and he is covered in stuff, DS1 has clean PJs about twice a week whereas DS2 has them most days, I have clean PJs twice or three times a week, we all have clean undies every day, DH and I wear tops once and trousers/skirts several times, often someone's jacket etc will need a wash too.

Have tried to make it less loads, I probably average 15 a week.

prettymum · 31/01/2007 00:05

me, dp, dd(2), ds (6 months) 1 load a day, otherwise it all builds up quick and i end up with a headache!
