Have just been sent a juicer by a friend

she said that when you make them for Cildren, you have to dilute what you make, so half water

Is this right????????

Thanks

i make smoothies for ds 5, in fact i went in to this class and made them for 30 kids. i only put a drop of fruit juice in to make it go further. cant see why as its just pure fruit. are you talking babies?

I think it's because juicing really concentrates the sugar, so it can give them a huge sugar rush. Once it's juiced, it's probably more fruit than they could actually eat, iyswim, and kids tend to gulp juice down really quickly. The advice is definitely to add water (and ice, if you like). I guess with a smoothie it's less of a problem, as you're using the whole fruit, so getting fibre as well, and sometimes also adding milk or yoghurt which would dilute things too.

Thanks for that

Diluting fruit juice for kids is about preventing tooth decay. Give them a straw (a thick one for smoothies, mind) and it won't go anywhere near their teeth.

mad isnt it? you think you are going give your kids something really healthy and at the end of the day, it doesnt seem as good as made out!

Thanks for your advice
