The walk/glide thing is deeply creepy, agreed.
I was a rollerskate refusenik and am busy indoctrinating children likewise. Does not seem to have adversely affected you pamina.

I had a mean Hog of a big iron scooter. That's precarious as I got. You could fit three small children on that and really motor down some of the local steep hills

DD is hounding me to buy her a pair for her birthday. I don't want to get her a pair. I think they look really uncomfortable and dangerous. My friend's DD broke her arm last week because of them.

Agree with being freaky too, seeing children suddenly whizz off down the road .. quite off putting!
