Does/Has anyone else on MN ever played D and D? Or other role playing games.

Dh and I had a short game with a mate last weekend, and I'd forgotten how much fun it is. The kids loved it too!

No. Sob! The closest I got were one player computer gams etc. oh and thhose Fighting Fantesy game books...

My DH and his mates used to spend whole weekends doing this when we were all in 6th form. I played once to see what it was all about. Bet it has changed loads as they had to draw maps etc by hand, refer to books, millions of die etc with loads of sides.

He keeps trying to persuade DS that Runescape is similar and that DS would like D&D. However, as he hasn't played for years has prob forgotten how. We do still have a few of the gaming books.

The version that we now have (present from mate) is much more complicated. the newest version is all D20.

Our kids love runequest and we thought they would enjoy it, and they did!

I was never allowed to join in when my brothers and their friends played. I remember really liking the little metal figures and making up my own games with them. My brothers used to hurl them at each other when they had an argument!

Not alone I do like D&D - play more computer variants now these days though. I do have a rather nice dice collection which is getting a bit dusty...

It was such fun to play it 'for real'! There was something satisfying about the roll of the dice. Better then playing on a computer IMHO.

Oh definitely - much more flexible than with computer restraints.
