yep thats how I read it.

Glad all is not lost!

SpaceCadet · 24/01/2007 16:18

there is no law that says a child cannot sit on a booster seat in the front..just not ideal

StrawberrySnowflakes · 24/01/2007 16:19

well now at least i can make an informed descision and i did hear mindee 2's dad say a few weeks ago when his eldest had her friend in car too, that friend was ok in middle 'legally' as there wasnt space for third seat..so he's aware too, but at time i thought he was talking rubbish

Best advice for safety is if you use front seat, to push it as far back as poss so that in event of an accident, child is further away from airbag. (Obviously that depends on how much legroom child behind needs)

StrawberrySnowflakes · 24/01/2007 16:31

thanks but am ..dp gt home after arsing about in garage as they now wanted to charge him more deposit than we agreed!!!!!!!!!!.they eventually backed down and when he checked our agreement at home, he is right!

then......
driving home people waving and pointing at him, thinking he hadnt his lights on or something, got out and plastic bumper around spotlight was hanging off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rang dealer only to be told it wasnt his sale, so would pass message on!!!!!!!!!!!..we took it supposedly fully serviced, checked, valeted etc etc minutes earlier and already part of it is hanging off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd have thought 3 boosters would fit in the back of the focus... try it to see.

Also on my Fiesta you can't turn the passenger airbag off either so it may just be a general thing.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 24/01/2007 19:24

yeah i think your right cos they are both very highly rated on encap and that feaure must be part of it!..i will try with my booster and cushion and see what other space is free!

, go straight back to the garage tomorrow, doesnt matter who blimmin sold it, its the garages responsibility, that salesman just didnt want the hassle...

mummyhill · 24/01/2007 20:48

DH says he is fairly certain that it should be possible to turn of the passenger side air bag. It would need to be booked in as they have to do it using the diagnostic computer. He will double check for us in the morning when he goes into work.

Deffo take it back it is the dealership[s responsibility to make sure that the car is safe for you to take out of the showroom. Take the paperwork with you to amke sure that you have the right ammo if they decide to throw the argumanet of the deposit in your face. If you have trouble getting them to sort it out I am sure that the trading standards people would love to help.

NannyL · 24/01/2007 21:50

I too would have thought you can get 3 car seats in the back of a focus... i can get 3 in the back of my renault clio

NAB3 · 25/01/2007 10:29

Haven't read all the latest posts. I think all children should always be in the back. If not possible, put the eldest in the front. Booster cushions aren't great, one with a back is better. Never put a rear facing child in the front with an airbag. An airbag is there to protect, if you turn it off I feel you defeat the object and there should be another way to safely (never mind legally!) transport the children. I get 3 big car seat across the middle of my car. I have a Renault Grand Scenic which also has 2 seats in the boot.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 26/01/2007 10:41

well i put dd's booster seat in last night on way out and seemed very spaceious, will try booster cushion with it tomorrow and se how it go's

still about part falling off tho spoke to big mamager yesterday and he dealing with rs holes now who feigned responsability and who said they would be they to sort it and wer'nt..a week tomorrow!!!!!, we should have a car with no bits flapping off!!!
