I sent an email to my boss and a peer at lunchtime I have just received a reply from the peer and was about to reaply when I re-read my original email and... realised in the first few words I had typed 'here' when I should have typed 'hear' ... I am just sat here cringing at the minute but need to respond. The question is do I pick up on my error and joke it off (if so need a witty one liner) or do I ignore it and risk them thinking I didn't know any better???

oooooh piss piss piss

I'd ignore it; there is always the possibility that they don't know any better and haven't noticed.

They know you know better, don't worry about it. I get fairly shabbily spelled emails from journos and editors regularly. It is not really the same as a letter.

do you think? but it's right there glraing at me. oh bugger

ooo you boss is a peer is he?

I think I'd not mention it. He may not have done. Just be really clever generally just in case.

Twiglett · 23/01/2007 19:16

don't mention it .. but do manage to incorporate another sentence with the word hear in it

FatFikAndFugly · 23/01/2007 19:16

Will try and be more clever. Will also proof read. never proof read on MN... so that's another thing MN is to blame for.

Does the reply from your peer have your original message in it? Maybe your boss hasn't read the original one yet. If so you could reply to all, with both previous messages, correct your typo in the text of your previous message and hope they never notice...

FatFikAndFugly · 23/01/2007 19:17

no it's there. my email, his response. thought about incorporating the word 'hear' but can't wangle it.

What s tupid stupid mistake.

it's like writing 'righting' or 'tail/tale' twit.
