On mac you right click three times over folder/file name and you can retype over it.

Ill have alook at the word thing later.

wotzsaname · 23/01/2007 14:39

Actually on a word doc i think it just one click on it and then you can retype. 3 clicks for folders.

if it is a touch pad, mousless, put curser over the folder names and click with finger!

aDad · 23/01/2007 14:45

think you just click on it and retype.

word of warning, DO NOT try to rename your hard disk in this way. i did once, it was a nightmare.

if you make a mistake with files either naming or draging and putting in wrong place etc you can do an undo command which is
hold down apple key (or the square one with curly corners near space bar) and then click z - let go of both and everyting back to how it was.

wotzsaname · 23/01/2007 14:54

screen grabs are the best on Macs.
Hold down apple and shift with one hand and then prsse the number 4. You get a curser which you can left drag across screen and it pic gets saved to your desktop.
I love Macs - i use macs and pcs, but my mac is has always been my favourite. they are cute and friendly.

Nowt you can do re the name thing - it knows the names of everyone in your email contacts book (or something) and assumes you want to refer to them all the time .

Drives me mad when I see it, but I normally look at the keyboard when typing rather than at the screen, so it doesn't catch my eye that often.

I don't get this happening with the names

I have never heard of this at all

funnypeculiar · 23/01/2007 15:57

humm, have never had this predictive text thing-y ... IO want it now everyone else has it

MrsBadger · 23/01/2007 15:59

It only does it if you have the whole of Office for Mac ie the whole suite integrated - Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Entourage (for email), because they all talk to each other behind your back (the bastards...)
