When you have your ds/dd's friend over to play, you will paint with them, bake cakes, whatever to make sure they have a really good time. When they return the favour they stick a video on!

When dd goes to visit a friend or relative and they fill her up with sweets, so that when she comes home she is hyperactive and doesn't want a proper meal.

When you've got a couple of hours to yourself to do those really important jobs, or to pamper yourself, the baby wakes up unexpectedly and your day that you have been looking forward to is ruined.

When you make plans to meet a girlfriend for a drink, you cancel other arrangements and make a big effort, only to get a phone call an hour beforehand to say that she's had a stressful day and is too tired to come out!

When your baby is crying non-stop in public and some old dear comes up and says "Aww, he's hungry look!" (pointing accusedly at you)

When you explain to a stranger that your child is shy, and they then make a point of putting that child on the spot and making them feel even more self-conscious!

When you agree to look after a friend's child for a couple of hours, that turns into 3/4 hours with no word of apology or explanation from them!

When another child starts mistreating your child's toys, and their mother does nothing to stop them.

Am having a bad today and just needed to get all that off my chest! Feel free to rant along with me!

hmc that would be fine; it's an emergency ! What I mean, and crazycanuck, is people with long but trivial and non urgent enquiries about returns, sizing of garments or whatever, who assume it's OK to ignore the queue just because they're not actually BUYING anything.

BaileysMilkshake · 24/11/2006 20:46

Talking of Tesco and Asda, people who barge between you and your DC when you are having a nice monet - or a naughty moment and speaking to them at thier level. Go around for crying out loud, you impatient old battleaxe!

bubbles4 · 24/11/2006 21:31

hate tesco and asda i always seem to bump into the really miserable people in there

Fattymumma · 24/11/2006 21:32

finding out that there is a school carol service and that your childs class is taking part except yours clearly isn't and you haven't even been told about it.

PeachyClair · 24/11/2006 21:39

OOh but fatty you can deal with that, we did with DS1

run up to Teacher all enthusiastically and say that child must have lost permission form but would be delighted to attend

(and if you;re as mean as me casually mention that it's his birthday that day and he will be deligyhted to help out lots )

Although they seem to have repaid by giving broad Somerset DS2 the role of traveller in the play with lines consisting of oo-ar oo-ar gert cold innit?

(Or take child out and spoil rotten coz it hurts to be left out poor thing)

Fattymumma · 25/11/2006 11:32

Thankfully its in the evening so i doubt he will even realise but its still quite hurtfull to not even be told about it.

I only know because my youngest brother is in the same year group and he came home with a letter.
my mum rang and said "will you be driving as if so can you collect us as the parking will be a nightmare"

errmm driving to what mum??

firemaiden · 25/11/2006 14:43

emailing bt to tell them the 'phone isn't working, only to get an email back saying that they have tested the line and they are not sure if there is a fault or not but that they will get back to me in 2 days time. If the fault turns out to be something I could have correctecd myself, then the engineer will charge me but I won't know this until he turns up sometime on Monday! 2 days without a 'phone and then, potentially, it will be my fault! Also, means I have to wait in all day on Monday. Time to change 'phone company, I think.

PeachyClair · 25/11/2006 15:01

firemaiden watch what they tell you- lazt BT engineer went home in middle of a job on exchange on old house, whole street was down (inc. 92 yr old lady living alone) they refused to acknoewledge fault then when councillor phoned told him in rude words where to go ! Eventually told Dh it was HIS fault (???). In the end agreed to refund £20 telehone calls charges (mobile) and send out an engineer, when proven our fault we would pay...... previous BT chap had cut wires and just left them. They paid to fix, but 2 years on still awaiting £20 refund

zookeeper · 25/11/2006 18:05

calling firemen and women "firefighters" - soumds like they're out saving the universe every day. Naff.

zookeeper · 25/11/2006 18:06

...and typos!

firemaiden · 25/11/2006 18:26

PC - thanks for the warning. We've been told twice that the problem has been fixed and now been told that the problem is widespread, they are aiming to fix it by Tuesday (!) and that we should see £1 compensation on our bills for every day without the telephone (£1 is apparently to cover the cost of the mobile phone calls we make - some hope they would be as cheap as this). Hope they don't try and blame it on our connection and try and bill us. It all sounds very confused at their end with lots of mixed messages.

handlemecarefully · 26/11/2006 19:27

wanderingstar - in that case I agree!

BaileysMilkshake · 26/11/2006 21:42

Going to Asda cause you found out they are selling priates of the Caribean 2, for under £10, only to be told - sold out, but we have the version with attached paperback (same size as the DVD) for £17.55!! Err NO! I dont see the point of paying 8 quid for a book I wont read!
